Thatโ€™s me, all done for Christmas.

Last client seen, posts scheduled for social media and now Iโ€™ll be putting my phone away so I can spend time with family.

Christmas can turn the volume up on everything - the good, the heavy, and the stuff we thought weโ€™d already dealt with.

Friendly reminder: you donโ€™t have to feel festive, grateful, healed, or โ€˜okayโ€™ just because itโ€™s Christmas.

If youโ€™re finding this time tough, support exists and you deserve it.

Be kind to yourself, drop the expectations and please know that you donโ€™t have to carry it alone.

December has a way of turning life into one long mental checklistโ€ฆ

Things to buy, places to be, expectations to meet, emotions to manage (yours and everyone elseโ€™s) and the list goes on ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

No wonder you feel frazzled and overwhelmed.

What actually helps in moments like this is surprisingly small things:

โ˜•๏ธ A warm cup of tea.
๐Ÿ˜˜ A kind word.
๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ One slow exhale that you didnโ€™t realise you were holding.

Youโ€™re not asking for too much for putting your needs before otherโ€™s for just one moment (I know the guilt is there!)

Itโ€™s nervous system regulation, which is very much needed when Christmas stress, anxiety and mental overload start stacking up.

๐Ÿง  When your brain is constantly scanning ahead
- deadlines, family dynamics, money, time pressure - it slips into survival mode.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Stress hormones rise, your patience drops and suddenly everything feels louder.

Your nervous system canโ€™t tell the difference between a real danger and the mental load of โ€˜I still have so much to do!โ€™
It just responds to urgency.

Small, sensory moments - warmth, breath, sound, touch - send a different message to the brain: Right now Iโ€™m safe.

Thatโ€™s what helps your nervous system settle, your thinking clear and your body come out of fight-or-flight so you can actually experience moments instead of rushing through them.

At this time of year, grief can feel especially close to the surface.

The festive season has a way of amplifying what - and who - is missing, even when the world around us expects cheer and celebration.

โŒ One of the biggest misconceptions about grief is that it shrinks with time.

๐Ÿ‘‰ In reality, life grows around it.

Some days you may feel steady, and on others the weight can arrive unexpectedly.

That doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re doing it wrong - it means youโ€™re human.

๐—š๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ณ ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ปโ€™๐˜ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—น๐—น๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ถ๐˜ ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ธ๐˜€ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜†๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ.

No one gets to decide how valid your sadness is, how long it lasts, or when it should feel โ€˜easier.โ€™

Itโ€™s also not about silencing your grief or pushing it away to get through Christmas. When emotions are buried, they tend to surface in other ways - emotionally, mentally, physically.

Grief isnโ€™t something you simply โ€˜get over,โ€™ and itโ€™s not about forgetting or minimising what youโ€™ve lost.

From a therapeutic, solution-focused perspective, the aim isnโ€™t to re-live the past or stay stuck in the pain.
โœจ Itโ€™s about gently supporting you to reconnect with the present, build coping strategies and find moments of calm, meaning and enjoyment alongside your grief - not instead of it.

If things feel overwhelming, reaching out can feel daunting.
But the right support - whether from friends, family, or a practitioner - wonโ€™t rush you, judge you, or tell you how you ๐™จ๐™๐™ค๐™ช๐™ก๐™™ feel.

In a season that often asks us to be โ€˜fine,โ€™ I hope you find space where you can be real, supported and held with compassion.

If youโ€™d told me then how much could change in four years, I wouldnโ€™t have believed you.

Back then, Iโ€™d just left teaching. I was mentally and physically exhausted, disconnected from myself and forcing smiles I didnโ€™t feel.

Teaching had become my entire identity. The pressure, the expectations, the paperwork, the responsibility for everyone else - especially post-Covid - had slowly drained the life out of me. Iโ€™d lost my spark and, honestly, Iโ€™d forgotten who I was.

๐Ÿ›Ÿ Solution Focused Hypnotherapy quite literally saved me.

It helped me calm my nervous system, think more rationally and understand why my brain and body were reacting the way they were.

๐Ÿ‘‰ It helped me realise that I wasnโ€™t failing - the system was failing me.

โœจ And it gave me the confidence (and self-worth) to make changes I was terrified to make, but deeply needed.

โฉ Fast forward to now, and Iโ€™m doing work I genuinely love.

I still teach. I still help people. But now I get to support individuals in a way that actually works - helping them feel calmer, more confident, more in control and more like themselves again.

(And yesโ€ฆ I get to drink my tea hot and go to the toilet when I want ๐Ÿ™Œ- if youโ€™re a teacher youโ€™ll get this ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Letting go of the โ€˜teacher identityโ€™ took a bit of time - the perfectionism, the people-pleasing, the constant sense of responsibility.

But it was so worth it. And I know, without doubt, I wouldnโ€™t be here without Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

๐Ÿ‘‰ I truly believe this: regardless of whatโ€™s happened in your past, you deserve a happy, fulfilled life.

And if youโ€™re feeling stuck, burnt out, or quietly struggling - I get it.
