So true.

So often in life, we become quite fixated on the idea of improving ourselves. And I think when people first come to mindfulness they have this idea that this is what mindfulness is all about – making ourselves better.
But mindfulness is not so much about improving, fixing, or changing yourself, it’s about knowing yourself more deeply and being yourself more fully.
It’s actually about unwinding from the thoughts that tell us we’re not enough yet, not there yet, not ok as we are, and it teaches us to abide in a deeper place within ourselves. A place of wholeness, calm, and contentment.
It’s such a profound relief when we can learn to simply accept ourselves as we are and let ourselves be.

So true. We get so quickly caught up in trying to fulfill our expectations and the ones we think others and society has in order to be valued and having the right to belong.

Hey friends,

Here is a poem I love to inspire you this Mental Health Week.

Walk, don’t run.
That’s it.
Walk, don’t run.

Slow down, breathe deeply,
and open your eyes because there’s
a whole world right here within this one. The bush doesn’t suddenly catch on fire, it’s been burning the whole time.

Moses is simply moving
slowly enough to see it. And when he does,
he takes off his sandals.

Not because the ground has suddenly become holy, but because he’s just now becoming aware that the ground has been holy the whole time.

Efficiency is not God’s highest goal for your life,
neither is busyness,
or how many things you can get done in one day,
or speed, or even success.

But walking,
which leads to seeing,
now that’s something.
That’s the invitation for every one of us today,
and every day, in every conversation, interaction,
event, and moment: to walk, not run. And in doing so,
to see a whole world right here within this one.

Our body is an amazing organism that is designed to survive and heal.
Unfortunately it can only do one or the other.
As long as we are in survival mode, we won't heal, but as soon as our systems feels safe, our innert healing mode kicks in.
Our autonomic nervous system is regulating our response to the ups and downs that life is made of and helps us bounce back from challenging situations and times.
Some events or circumstances can compromise our capacity to meet those challenges and our range of resilience becomes smaller - we become overwhelmed and feel threatened in situations that used to be a piece of cake to deal with.
It doesn't have to stay like this.
I am offering a safe space for healing to grow and regain Your Capacity for Life to happen and lived to the fullest.
