šŸ§ šŸ’„ Why Women Over 40 Need to Strength Training.
These are my ladies showing how it’s done.
We say: Lift heavy. Take up space. Get strong. šŸ’„
Women over 40 should prioritise strength training—not just for aesthetics, but for function, longevity, and power.
Here’s why ā¬‡ļø
✨ Muscle = Metabolic Gold
After 40, estrogen drops—and so does muscle mass. Strength training helps preserve lean tissue, which keeps metabolism humming and energy high.
🦓 Bones Love Load
Resistance and jump training stimulate bone density, reducing fracture risk and osteoporosis. Pilates and yoga? Great—but they don’t load bones like lifting does.
🧠 Strong Body, Sharp Mind
Strength work supports nervous system function and cognitive health. It’s not just about looking strong—it’s about thinking strong.
šŸ”„ Power Beats Cardio
We as women need to ā€œlift heavy sh*t.ā€ (Dr Stacy Sims) That means progressive overload, not endless reps with pink dumbbells. So what heavy looks like for one person looks different for someone else, particularly if you’ve never trained like that before.
šŸ‘‘ Confidence Is Contagious
Strength training teaches women to own their space. Be strong and loud. You deserve it

We don’t train to shrink.
We train to build — muscle, confidence, longevity.Every rep is a vote for our future self.
Every lift is a reminder: I’m not done becoming.Women over 40 — this is how we train:
With intention. With fire. With freedom. If you’ve never trained like this , it’s time to start and if you want to know how to get started drop me a message. I love empowering womenā¤ļø

Following on from Fridays post, I thought I’d delve into it a bit more.

Your body whispers before it shouts.
And if you’re tuned in, you’ll catch the message before it becomes a meltdown. I know this from personal experience those little niggles you ignore.šŸ˜‚

Last week, I spotted a subtle shift in my training — a movement pattern that didn’t feel wrong, but looked off. My body was protecting an old injury. I wouldn’t have noticed without watching myself back.

Here’s what I’ve learned (and what I teach my clients):
✨ Fatigue shows up in form before it shows up in pain
✨ Compensation is clever — but not always kind
✨ Awareness is your first line of defense

You don’t need to obsess. You just need to listen.
Because longevity isn’t built on pushing harder — it’s built on moving smarter.

So if something feels ā€œoff,ā€ or you’re just not sure… pause. Reflect. Record.
Your body’s been trying to tell you something. Are you ready to hear it?
And do something about it whether that is seeing a professional (Chiro, physio massage etc) or rehabbing your injury.

ā˜€ļø Holiday mode: I ate what I fancied (always in moderation), and yes… I even had a drink most days. For those who know me, that’s rare — but the sun was shining and I loved sharing a glass with my hubby.

Back home, I didn’t panic or punish myself with endless cardio. Instead, I slipped straight back into my routine:
✨ Higher protein meals
✨ Gym sessions
✨ My usual runs
✨ No crazy calorie cuts

And guess what? I’m already feeling leaner.

Because here’s the truth: I never feel guilty for taking a break. I trust myself to return to my rhythm — and that’s exactly what I want for you too.

So ladies, don’t stress about holidays. Rest, enjoy, live — your routine will always be there when you’re ready. šŸ’ŖšŸ’™

🌓 Corfu, calm, and completely offline 🌊

No workouts. No Reels. No guilt.

Just me, soaking up sunsets, slow mornings, and the kind of silence that resets everything.

Last week wasn’t about progress or productivity. It was about presence. About letting my body rest, letting my mind wander, and remembering that joy doesn’t need to be earned and off course house hunting and good food and company.

If you needed a reminder: rest is not a reward. It’s a right.

Back now, stronger and softer timeto thrive agson. šŸ’™

We finally made it to The Farmers Dog (Clarkson’s Pub) last night — Jamie’s birthday choice! It really is like trying to get tickets for a gig just to book a table, but was it worth the effort? Absolutely.

Even with the 1 hour 15 minute drive to get there, we’d definitely go back. The menu was simple, but every dish tasted incredible — much better than I expected. The atmosphere and service were spot on, with music from my era playing at just the right volume. Despite being busy, the restaurant still felt cozy and welcoming.

Drink-wise, I tried the IPA, which I really enjoyed, and a glass of rosƩ from Kent that was lovely too.

What stood out most, though, was the team — everyone looked genuinely happy to be there and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing. It makes such a difference.

Yes it’s a little pricey but not much more than we pay in Wokingham and everything is sourced in uk.

Well done , thank you for a lovely evening.

One word of warning if you park in the overflow car park and it’s been raining, prepared to get muddy šŸ˜‚
