Copied from a fellow instructor..
“People say “it’s only one class” but in fitness, one cancellation isn’t just one space.
If 3 people drop off a small group PT block, that can be the difference between profit and loss.
If 5 members pause in a community class, that can wipe out the instructor’s wage for that session.
If attendance dips for a few weeks, venues question timetables. Timetables shrink. Opportunities disappear.
Commercial gym or community hall… it’s the same truth.
Fitness instructors don’t just “turn up.”
They plan sessions.
They programme safely.
They pay insurance.
They invest in qualifications.
They arrive early.
They stay late.
Most trainers aren’t backed by big corporations. Many are self employed. When numbers dip, income dips instantly.
That small decision to:
• Show up
• Stay consistent
• Recommend your class
• Tag your coach
…can literally keep a class alive.
Community fitness especially is fragile. It keeps older adults moving. It gives parents an outlet. It supports mental health. It builds friendships. When numbers fall, those spaces disappear quietly.
Support your trainer.
Support your local classes.
Support the people who show up for you week after week.
Because humans don’t bond with apps.
They bond with people.
And sometimes the smallest show of support makes the biggest difference. 💪”
