“I am grateful for everything… staff helped me be a better husband, father, and grandfather.” 💬💚

This feedback reminds us how powerful compassionate mental health support can be. Recovery isn’t just about treatment. It’s about care, encouragement, and the people who go the extra mile to help someone regain confidence, rebuild relationships, and take positive steps in their life. Our team is here to guide, listen, and support every step of the way.

Women from across Walsall came together for the third event in a borough-wide programme focused on improving women’s health and wellbeing.

Led by Walsall Together, Walsall Community Association and One Walsall, the event welcomed special guests including Mayor Cllr Louise Harrison and local MP Wendy Morton, showing strong support for the work underway.

The event shared findings from a listening exercise involving over 300 local women. Many spoke about feeling dismissed or unheard by family members, healthcare professionals, and employers as well as a lack of clear, accessible, and trustworthy information about their health and wellbeing.

Ideas in development include drop-in sessions, expert Q&As, self-help workshops, self-care packages, better information sharing, and stronger links with local health services. The event also featured expert presentations and powerful lived experiences, sparking rich discussion and creative thinking about what a well-supported Walsall woman could look like.

This , we spoke with veteran and mental health leader Gregory Amuntung, Team Lead for the Walsall Mental Health Liaison Service.

Gregory shared how his time in the armed forces shaped his passion for supporting people before they reach crisis point — and for breaking the stigma around mental health.

At Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, we take time today to honour all who have served — past and present. Their courage and selflessness remind us of the importance of compassion, care and community. At 11am, we will observe two minutes of silence to reflect and remember.

As children across the Black Country head back to school, healthcare leaders are reminding parents and carers to help protect their little ones ahead of winter.

Seasonal illnesses like flu, COVID-19 and norovirus are expected to spread more widely in colder months. Here’s how to keep your family protected ❄️🩺

✅ Make sure your child is up to date with their vaccinations, including:

- The free flu nasal spray (ages 2–16)
- Flu and COVID-19 vaccines for those in clinical risk groups
- Both MMR doses (for measles protection)

🧼 Encourage good hygiene habits – wash hands regularly, catch coughs and sneezes in tissues, and stay home when unwell.

💪 Stay active, eat well, and get self-care advice from your local pharmacist or the NHS website.
