Welcome to our Prostate Cancer Support Group page. Please join us for our regular meets with talks, tea, biscuits and raffles! 🩵

We are a non profit organisation supporting patients and their loved ones who have had a prostate cancer diagnosis. We are a non profit making organisation, formed to provide information, advice and support to members of the local community affected by prostate cancer. This includes patients, partners, carers or friends. Membership is open to any patient treated at, or invited by, the Urology Department of New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton and their partners, carers or friends.

Thankyou all so much for attending the last support group of the year!

What a fantastic and interesting talk about robotic prostatectomy from Mr Cooke, we are always so grateful for him giving his time to come and talk to us.

We also raised £90 from the raffle, which is absolutely amazing 🤩.

Thankyou all so much for attending this year and we will be announcing next year’s support group dates and talkers soon. We do also have some exciting upcoming ideas and plans, so keep your eyes peeled 👀.

If there is any topic or discussion you would like to have a talk about next year, please let us know and we will try to arrange this also. 🩵

We are looking forward to seeing you all on Monday 10th November at our support group.

We’re extremely lucky to have Mr Cooke from New Cross Hospital joining us and giving a talk on robotic prostate surgery!

Also, there will be a raffle, so if anyone does have any prizes to donate, please could you bring them along, it would be much appreciated!

Last Monday, we had Mr Mak (Urology consultant) who came to talk about research trials and prostate cancer. Currently the ELIPSE (Evaluation of Lymphadenectomy In high risk Prostate cancer SurgEry) trial is studying two different types of surgery for men with high risk localised prostate cancer. The two types of surgery being compared are:

Surgery where the prostate and lymph glands are removed vs Surgery where the prostate alone is removed.

This study will hopefully in the future determine whether it is better to remove lymph nodes during prostate cancer surgery.

This week, after the AGM, we had Dr. Steve Allen (retired consultant anaesthetist) come to our group to talk about sexual dysfunction following prostate surgery, and what an informative and fascinating talk it was! Lots of information was shared and lots of questions were answered.

Ian Chambers (vacuum pump representative) also came and did a great talk about vacuum pump devices and how they can benefit with pe**le rehabilitation following prostate surgery.

🩵 THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING EVENT 🩵

What an absolutely fantastic turn out yet again for our H&W event! There were lots of questions answered, support given and many cakes eaten!

Our raffle raised over £70 for the group also!

Thankyou all for your continued support!

Our next meeting is on Monday 21st July 2025. This will start with the AGM and then be followed by a talk from Steve Allen (retired consultant anaesthetist) about sexual function following prostatectomy. Also Ian Chambers (vacuum pump representative) will also be in attendance!
