Sometimes (Soph would say most of the time) I need to chill my beans
I have a habit of overthinking everything!
I get carried away trying to be “optimal.”
With training, I want the perfect split, the exact reps, the most evidence-based running plan.
With nutrition, I’m not happy until I’ve covered every possible base.
But the longer I’ve worked in health & fitness, the more I realise:
“Optimal” is a trap.
For one, perfect doesn’t even exist, cos there are too many moving parts.
But more importantly… chasing “optimal” makes you fragile.
One slip-up and the whole thing collapses.
You miss a session → you catastrophise → you tell yourself you’ve ruined everything → you start again Monday.
(Or so I’ve heard 👀).
You start to move the needle when you chill the f**k out and just do a few things pretty well for a long time.
That’s what I help people do inside the Peak Pathway:
Strip things back.
Lower the bar.
Focus on “good enough,” not “perfect.”
Not the perfect plan.
Just a plan you can actually stick to - even when life gets messy.
