A new Wudu facility has been officially opened with a celebration event at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
The facility which is located near to the multifaith prayer room offers a dedicated space in which to prepare for prayers. The installation of the facility has been a real collaboration to improve upon the space available for hospital staff, patients and their loves ones, and wider community.
With a thriving Muslim community working, being treated or visiting the hospital, the project was spearheaded by Worcestershire Royal Hospital staff to open a dedicated facility.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity were delighted to provide funding and work alongside the Trust to see this project through to completion. Sophie Burt, Head of Fundraising and Community Development said: โAs a charity we aim to be there for our whole community, providing enhancements that make a real difference, we have delighted to fund this project of improving facilities for our community. The space provides a dedicated Wudu space, an important step in ensuring our community feels welcomed and respected in our hospitals.โ
Dr Munir who worked in partnership with Reverend Helen Glithero and Reverend David Southall, and the multifaith team, along with the emBrace network represented by Reena Rane, Network Chair, charity and trust colleagues, who collectively helped to see the project to completion said: โSeeing the facility be officially opened today was a real celebratory moment, the project was a real community collaboration seeing multi faiths, hospital departments and the charity come together to enhance the experience of our community. Being able to provide the community with this dedicated Wudu really represents the Trustโs values of ensuring our community feels cared for and respected, it has made a real difference for our practising Muslim community.โ
The celebration event saw the facility officially opened by Senior Leaders of the Trust with members of the hospital community present and was a milestone moment, the facility which is open to all is making a real impact.
