🤯😢 Every single day in my news feed I see posts from people upset over scales or putting things like ‘I’m not weighing this week as I know I will get upset’
I used to be a scales addict!!!No word of a lie I would be on them 10+ times a day! The things I have put my body through for that 1 number on a scale is awful - honestly I have really destroyed my body & got myself into the worst relationship with food, punishing myself, abusing my body & with that pushed my mental health to rock bottom………. All for a number on scales!!!
Then I educated myself!
Fatloss is not linear
Weight loss is not linear
One of the most fitness misconceptions of all !
If you are starting a weight loss journey or are already on a weight loss journey, let me be the first to tell you weight loss is NOT linear!
If you expect to stand on the scales every day and see the weight drop and drop and drop then you will be very disappointed... BUT this is NORMAL!
Fatloss doesn't just happen because you are in a calorie deficit. There's many reasons why the number on the scale fluctuates. Here's a few ⬇️
▪️Poor Sleep / lack of sleep
▪️Stress levels
▪️Water retention
▪️Bowel movements
▪️Hormones: time of the month / menopause
You could be in a perfect calorie deficit and exercising consistently, but if you are stressed to the max or not sleeping well this could be the reason why the scale isn't moving, or even going up 😢
Just remember, please don't obsess over the number on the scale. Put more focus on getting better sleep, finding solutions to manage your daily stress, fuelling your body with good nutrition, making sure you drink 3-4 Ltrs of water a day, rather than going crazy over the number on the scale.
Weight / fat loss doesn't happen over night & it doesn't happen in a week!
Be consistent! Look at how you are fuelling - you might be in a calorie deficit but are you getting the macro & micronutrients your body needs? You do not need to cut carbs! Your body needs them daily! Healthy fats - you need them! Protein - you need it! Fibre - you need it!
Just because something is low is calories doesn’t mean it’s good for you!
