Women are shaping modern policing - not just through representation, but through leadership, resilience and influence.

Yesterday marked International Women’s Day - a moment to recognise the achievements of women across every profession, including those serving in UK policing.

Across the UK, women are:

💙 Driving change at every rank
💙 Leading specialist units and frontline teams
💙 Challenging perceptions of what policing looks like
💙 Mentoring the next generation entering the service
💙 Strengthening community trust through diverse leadership

Policing demands courage, composure and commitment - and women across the service demonstrate that every single day.

Progress has been made, visibility has grown, but continued recognition and meaningful support still matter.

The future of policing is stronger when it reflects the communities it serves - and when talent is recognised at every level.

We’ve explored this further in our latest blog.

This week marks two years since Craig joined Bluline Health Ltd as Executive Officer.

After retiring from a long and dedicated career in policing, Craig brought something incredibly valuable with him: lived experience. He understands the pressures of the job, the impact on family life, and the physical and mental demands officers face every single day.

Over the past two years, as Bluline has grown, so has Craig’s role. He now spends much of his time travelling across the country meeting Police Federations and Forces, sharing how Bluline supports the Police family and seeing first-hand the positive impact the scheme is having.

In Craig’s words:

“I am very much now settled into my role, which has grown as the company has grown over the last couple of years. I find it hard to believe I’ve been retired from Policing for two years now.

I now find myself in many different counties of the country talking to Police Federations and Police Forces regarding the benefits of Bluline to the Police family. It is great to see the positive impact that Bluline is having in various Forces and it’s good to catch up with members that have seen and felt the benefits of the scheme.

For me it is great to be able to bring my policing experience into my role and to continue to support policing from the outside - to assist those with physical and mental health challenges, to make a genuine difference in their lives and hopefully assist in their recovery.

It’s also great to have a fantastic team around me, that go that extra mile every day to support the police family at times of difficulty."

We’re incredibly proud to have Craig leading from the front - continuing to serve the Police family in a different, but equally important, way.

Here’s to the next chapter.

Last Thursday we were proud to be the lead sponsor of this year’s Dorset Police Federation Recognition Awards.

It was a fantastic evening celebrating the dedication, leadership and commitment shown by officers and staff across Dorset.

One of the highlights was the presentation of the Sergeant of the Year award to Sgt Karen Brown - recognised as a true champion of her colleagues’ wellbeing.

Our Executive Officer, Craig Grandison, had the privilege of presenting the award alongside Chief Constable Amanda Pearson.

Karen’s recognition reflects the kind of leadership policing needs - leaders who understand that supporting your team goes beyond the day job.

Congratulations to Karen and to all of the nominees and winners on the night. It was an honour to support an event that recognises the people who make policing what it is. 👏

1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

In the UK, diagnoses have increased in recent years. Encouragingly, greater awareness and improved testing mean more cases are now being detected earlier, when treatment is most effective.

One of the challenges with prostate cancer is that it often has no symptoms in its early stages. Many men feel completely well.

That’s why understanding your level of risk and knowing how to get tested is so important.

March is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, providing an opportunity to raise awareness and encourage early action.

In our latest blog, we explain:

🔹What prostate cancer is
🔹Who may be at higher risk
🔹Possible symptoms
🔹How testing works
🔹How you can show support this March

Looking after your health is one of the most important steps you can take - for yourself and for those around you.

Most people delay treatment not because they don’t care about their health.

But because they think it’ll be a hassle.
Lots of paperwork.
Or they simply keep putting it off.

And 'later' turns into months.

Making a claim with us is straightforward - and we guide you through it step by step.

There’s no back and forth.
No being left to figure it out alone.

When you’re dealing with an injury or health concern, the last thing you need is stress about the process.

Your focus should be on getting better.
Our focus is on making that happen quickly and with ease.

If you’ve ever put off treatment because it felt like too much admin - this is your reminder that it doesn’t have to be.

If something is bothering you, don’t sit on it. Reach out and let’s talk it through.

An MRI is an MRI.
A consultant is a consultant.

So what is the difference between a police healthcare scheme and standard private medical insurance?

It’s not about the treatment.
It’s about how you get there.

With standard private medical insurance, you’re usually buying an individually underwritten policy. Your age and medical history can affect whether you’re accepted, what’s covered, and what you pay. And claims are assessed strictly against a contract.

With a police healthcare scheme like Bluline Health Ltd, you’re joining a not-for-profit membership built specifically for police officers and staff.

That means:

• No medical underwriting to join
• Membership designed around the police workforce
• Claims assessed under scheme rules
• A model focused on members - not shareholders

The hospital might be the same.
The specialist might be the same.

But the experience behind it - how you join, how decisions are made, and who the scheme is designed for - can feel very different.

If you’re reviewing your healthcare this year, don’t just look at what’s covered.

Look at how the whole system is built - and who it’s built for.

When someone reaches the point of asking for help, they shouldn’t have to wait.

That moment often comes after weeks - sometimes months - of trying to cope on their own.

Mental health struggles don’t pause while you sit on a waiting list.

They affect work.
They disrupt sleep.
They put pressure on relationships.
They make everyday life harder.

This Bluline member didn’t need another delay.
They needed someone to listen, guide them and help them take the next step before things escalated.

Early support can change the direction of someone’s recovery.

If you work in policing and you’re not feeling like yourself lately, please don’t ignore it.

You can’t be expected to manage everything on your own.

If you’d like to understand how our Mental Health Navigator works, our team are always here to talk. 💙

The NHS works incredibly hard, yet demand remains high.

But the reality is that many people are waiting longer than they expected.

For some, that means living with symptoms for months longer than they thought they would.

It can mean going to work as usual while still waiting for answers - managing pain and wondering whether something is improving or getting worse.

When you don’t have answers about your own health, it’s difficult to ignore. It can affect your concentration and make it harder to get on with everyday life.

For many people, timely access to care isn’t just about treatment - it’s about getting answers and knowing what happens next.

If you’ve experienced long waits for treatment, how did it affect you?

Most of us think about being kind to other people, which is a good thing.

But do you extend that to yourself?
Do you ever stop and think about how you show yourself kindness?

There’s strong evidence that practising self-compassion lowers stress and strengthens emotional resilience - which, in a job like policing, can make all the difference.

So maybe today, on Random Acts of Kindness Day, it’s not only about what you do for everyone else.

Maybe it’s:

🫶 Making sure you get enough sleep between shifts.
🫶 Taking your rest days seriously.
🫶 Eating something nutritious instead of convenient.
🫶 Speaking to yourself with more compassion on the difficult days.

How are you going to show yourself some kindness today? 💙
