Some journeys mean more than others.

This lad came to my life a long time ago with a fire inside him. We spoke about using everything he’d been through as fuel, not an excuse. Turning setbacks into direction. Turning pain into purpose.

Today he’s achieved the goal we always spoke about.

From the start I believed in him so much that I even sponsored his shorts. Not because I had to… but because I knew the type of person he could become if he stayed on the path.

Watching him achieve what he set out to do makes me incredibly proud.

Not just of the success…
But of the character, resilience, and work it took to get there.

We’re proud to have played a small part in his journey.

The best part?

When a school asks Coach Tally to step in and deliver an intervention… it’s usually because something isn’t working.

Anger.
Frustration.
Energy with nowhere to go.

Too often these young people get labelled as the problem.

But the reality is simple…
no one has shown them how to channel that energy the right way.

This week Coach Tally was asked to come into school and deliver an intervention using combat sport principles.

Not to teach fighting.
To teach control, discipline, respect and focus.

Because when a young person learns to control their emotions through movement and structure, something powerful happens.

The same young person who struggles in the classroom
starts showing discipline, belief and resilience.

This is one of our biggest drivers , helping young people unlock their true potential by giving them the right environment, the right guidance, and someone who understands them.

Sometimes young people don’t need punishment.
They need direction.

Schools across the region are now seeing the impact when energy is redirected, not suppressed.

When anger becomes discipline…
confidence starts to grow.

And that’s where real change begins.

Proof again that when we stay true to our values and build strong relationships with our young people, incredible things happen.

Young people flourish when they feel supported, understood, and believed in. They begin to see their own strength, step outside their comfort zone, and realise what they are truly capable of.

This is only possible because of the staff who lead from the front every single day. Their commitment, care, and example create the environment where real growth happens.

Every young person needs someone who sees their potential before they see it themselves. When that belief is given at the right time, it can shape the rest of their life.

Classrooms Are Not for Everyone 💛

At Matt Tally Empowered Minds, we do things differently.

For some young people, a traditional classroom environment simply doesn’t work. That doesn’t mean they lack ability, potential, or a future. It means they need a different environment to thrive.

Our provision combines:
• 1-2-1 mentoring and emotional support
• Sport and movement
• Relationship building
• Confidence and resilience development
• Practical life skills

We focus on connection first. When a young person feels understood, safe, and valued, real progress begins.

Not everything is about grades.

Sometimes the most important work is helping a young person:
• rebuild confidence
• regulate emotions
• trust adults again
• believe in themselves

From that foundation, they become ready for whatever life throws at them.

While some see an empty space, we see potential waiting to be unlocked.

At Matt Tally Empowered Minds, this is where confidence gets rebuilt, where young people reconnect with learning, and where they realise they are not “behind” they just needed the right environment.

For many of the young people we support, the traditional classroom wasn’t working.
That doesn’t mean they can’t succeed.

It just means they needed a different path.

Every week we are seeing young people rediscover belief in themselves, reconnect with education, and start enjoying learning again.

A Big Milestone for Empowered Minds💛

Due to the incredible feedback and trust from schools and education leaders, we’re now taking the next growth step in our Alternative Provision.

To support more young people who need a different pathway in education, we are now recruiting an Education Lead to help strengthen and grow the provision.

Education Lead – Alternative Provision

📍 Worcester
🕒 Full-Time
💰 Competitive salary (dependent on experience)

We are seeking an inspiring Education Lead to oversee and develop our Alternative Provision programme, supporting young people who need a more personalised and flexible approach to education.

The role will involve:
• Leading the educational delivery within the provision
• Designing engaging, differentiated learning pathways
• Supporting young people with SEMH needs or at risk of exclusion
• Working with schools, local authorities and families
• Monitoring progress and ensuring high standards of safeguarding and education

We are looking for someone who:
• Holds QTS or equivalent
• Has experience in Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN or SEMH settings
• Has strong leadership skills and a trauma-informed approach
• Is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people

This is an opportunity to shape provision that genuinely changes young lives.
