Over the past few years, my focus has been on change—finding my passion, manifesting, visualising, and always looking ahead to the future. But today, a bit of spring cleaning had other plans for me.
As I dusted off old boxes and looked inside, I was suddenly transported back in time. I found certificates for “being brave” in hospital, gymnastics, dance, completing homework, commitment to my studies—and even a winner’s certificate from an under-12 netball tournament. I think maybe my younger self was saving them to impress at an interview someday 🤣 Honestly, who wouldn’t be impressed by a Coca-Cola gymnastics badge from 1991?
It does feel a little strange to have kept all of these for so long and never really used them to “prove” anything. But maybe that’s not what they were for.
Looking through those stacks of memories and photographs, I started thinking about what I’d say to my younger self. Probably to worry less. To be kinder to myself. To recognise my worth a bit sooner.
Because those small moments—the bravery, the effort, the commitment—they all mattered. They still do.
In a funny way, those old bits and bobs have helped shape who I am today. They remind me to believe in myself, to keep striving, to celebrate the small wins, and to stay true to who I am. Most importantly, they remind me to keep being brave.
So who knows… maybe there are still a few more gymnastics certificates to come.
Sometimes, we forget just how far we’ve come 💭
