Day 5 of our Making Sense of Anxiety series … today we’re talking about Sleep 😴
When it comes to anxiety, sleep is often the first thing we overlook … but have you noticed how everything feels harder when you’re exhausted?
When you haven’t had enough good quality sleep, your nervous system is already on edge before the day even begins. So the smallest things can feel bigger, more overwhelming and much harder to manage.
It’s not that you’re “not coping”… your system is just tired 💫
😴 You might notice:
– You feel more irritable.
– Your thoughts race more easily.
– You feel more emotional or sensitive.
– Things that wouldn’t usually bother you suddenly do.
This is why sleep isn’t a luxury when it comes to anxiety … it’s foundational.
If sleep is a struggle for you, start gently with no pressure to get it perfect. Maybe that looks like:
– Swapping scrolling for something calming before bed.
– Giving your mind a chance to slow down with a short meditation.
– Or even just going to bed a little earlier than usual.
Small changes really do add up 🤍
In my private group, we go a little deeper; sharing experiences, tips, and gentle experiments around sleep. If it feels right, you’d be very welcome to join us https://www.facebook.com/groups/1410457717203925/
