Yes, I know it's that time of year when SM is flooded with weight loss posts and yes I know I'm about to add to do exactly that, but.....
I'm going to do it anyway because I know what it's like to feel sluggish, bloated, tired all the time, putting life on hold because I feel uncomfortable in my own skin. I've felt all of those things and more, but the thing I HATED the most was how unhealthy I felt. I hated what I was doing to my body and my wellbeing, but I struggled to get myself out of the slump I'd gotten myself into.
I know that your weight doesn't have to define you. I am the same person in both photos, but I do feel like a more supercharged version of myself now. There is just under 4 years between these two photos and I've been around my current weight (give or take) for about 2 years. The "before" photo is blurry because it's a still from a video that I thought was being taken of our dog, Olive! I was happy in the first photo, absolutely. But in the second photo I have energy, I feel comfortable in my own skin, I don't feel tired all the time, I'm active and can easily (ish) run a couple of miles without feeling like I'm going be sick! But above all of that I feel healthy - my ultimate goal 🙌.
I'm no angel and, to be honest, I wouldn't want to be. I've just very much enjoyed Christmas and everything that comes with it 🤣 and now I'm slowly getting back into my regular healthy eating habits, one step at a time. No guilt, I enjoyed every mouthful! Balance.
There can be a lot of negativity surrounding weight loss groups on social media, but I say ignore the noise and do what works for you. I lost weight with Slimming World because, quite simply, it works and I am a Slimming World consultant because I love helping people reach a healthy weight and enrich their lives. A lot of things work. I have no desire to bash anyone or anything else. Find something that works for you and commit to it. If I can do it, anyone can. If you tell yourself you can't, you won't. But you tell yourself you can....
Now that I'm almost at my Target weight, I don't want to spend my life worrying about diets or what I weigh. And I wouldn't want anyone else to either. Life is too short for that. I have a passion for overall health and I want to look after mine, so my plan is to eat well, be as active as I can be and exercise balance and flexibility when I need to. No "all or nothing" or quick fixes, just a happy, healthy lifestyle 😘
