Every day I get up and tune in. Before emails, before to-do lists, before I open the door to the world – I arrive in the day.

Some days that’s an hour on my mat. Other days, it’s five minutes of mindful breathing while the kettle boils. But it’s always there – my daily anchor. 🌿

Like so many of us, the past few years have brought challenge and change. Through it all, yoga has been my therapy. It reminds me that every state of being – tired, strong, restless, peaceful – is welcome.

💫 The body as earth (annamaya kosha): yoga grounds us, nourishes us, keeps us fit and full of energy.
💫 The happiness of stretching: serotonin flows, mood shifts, lightness returns.
💫 Breath as medicine: the sigh of release, reminding the body it is safe.
💫 Mantra for the mind: simple truths softening the inner critic.

Yoga isn’t just exercise – it’s a way of living. A way of coming home to yourself. 🌸

✨ Yoga at SunFyr Barns: Alignment, Freedom & Self Care ✨

My yoga asana journey began 16 years ago, a little late to the party at 37. By then my body had already decided a lot about itself — misaligned hips, a knee that complained, rounded shoulders. When I threw myself fiercely into practice around the age of 40, I carried those patterns with me. Without enough attention to alignment, I picked up strains and injuries, especially in my shoulders and hips. Annoying and painful at the time, yes — but also the best and most powerful teacher. Those injuries shaped how I now guide others: with safety and alignment at the very core.

That’s why in our Freedom Flow we don’t just move — we move with awareness. It’s a class of strength training, exercise, flow, and music, but flowing freely only comes when you know how to move safely. Alignment is fundamental: it keeps you strong, protects your joints, and makes the practice sustainable for life.

Too often, especially in gym-based yoga, I see the emphasis on speed and fitness over form, with little adjustment or attention to alignment. For me, that’s hard to watch — because I know how easy it is to injure yourself without good guidance. At SunFyr Barns, all our teachers come with not only yoga training but also backgrounds in physiotherapy, bodywork, and holistic health. That means your practice is always supported with safety in mind.

Yoga is maintenance for your body, like tending to a garden you live in every day. With care, alignment, and practice, you create freedom — the freedom to enjoy your body, to stay strong, supple, youthful, and healthy. Most of all, you learn to really enjoy living in your body again.

💛 Alignment is the root. Freedom is the blossom.

Summer was for adventures, autumn is for coming home 🍂 and I’m so ready to be back on the mat with you all. This Wednesday, two brand new evening sessions land at SunFyr Barns:

🔥 6:00 PM – Freedom Flow
Not your average yoga class. Think strength, rhythm, and release. With a killer playlist, flowing sequences, and a mix of power + grace, this one’s for the senses. If you love movement that feels like training meets dance meets music therapy, you’ll love this. Leave buzzing, lighter, stronger.

🌿 7:15 PM – Yoga for Daily Life
A slower, soulful practice that dives into the authentic philosophy of yoga — and how to actually make it work in everyday life. Think less “abstract” and more “real tools” for living with calm, clarity, and purpose.

After a beautiful summer pause, I’m back at SunFyr Barns with fresh energy and so much inspiration for the season ahead. 🌿

This Wednesday I’m opening the doors for two evening classes:

🧘 6:00 PM – Freedom Flow
A strong, dynamic practice to strengthen the body, release tension, and reset the nervous system. Think movement + breath + music that leaves you lighter, calmer, and buzzing with natural feel-good energy.

💫 7:15 PM – Yoga for Daily Life
Our reflective, philosophy-infused class where we explore how yoga supports us off the mat as much as on it.

And because I love to weave the seasons into our practice, here’s a glimpse of our autumn themes:

Mum & Baby Yoga 🧘‍♀️ + Baby Massage 💆‍♂️ + Postnatal Health Support for Mums 💛

I first created YogaBubs 15 years ago here in Norwich & Norfolk. It wasn’t just a class – it was a community where mums came together to share the highs and lows of motherhood, to sing, to eat cake, to breathe, and to look out for each other.

By 2018, YogaBubs had grown into 20 classes across Norfolk and evolved into ZenMuma. I have trained incredible teachers for the last 7 years, but I haven’t taught a class myself since then…
