🔬 British Science Week 2026

From 6–15 March 2026, British Science Week returns to celebrate , , and across the UK — inspiring the next generation to explore where STEM could take them.

This year’s Smashing Stereotypes campaign is now live, featuring eight new professionals who challenge outdated ideas of what a scientist “looks like” or how a science career begins. With over 40 stories spanning chefs, product designers, fitness professionals and more, the campaign powerfully demonstrates that science is for everyone — regardless of background or career path.

Local Inspiration – Manchester
Here in the North West, the Faculty of Science and Engineering at The University of Manchester is launching the celebrations with a FunLab Trafford Centre Takeover on 7–8 March at the Trafford Centre.

Families can explore, play and discover with free hands-on activities — from meeting robots and handling real dinosaur bones to taking part in exciting experiments designed to spark curiosity and creativity.

There’s also the opportunity to hear from renowned physicist Brian Cox during British Science Week as part of the ATOM Festival of Science & Technology in Abingdon-on-Thames — an inspiring reminder of where a passion for science can lead.

KEY PROJECT MILESTONE ACHIEVED

The new mezzanine floor for Analytical Services International (ASI) is now complete — and the transformation is impressive.

Watch our timelapse video below to see the construction stages and how this additional level has unlocked valuable new space to support lab activities.

The design of the has been central to expanding ASI’s analytical facilities. After identifying the potential within a double-height storeroom, our Contracts Manager proposed a structural solution that would significantly increase usable space without extending the building footprint.

As Principal Contractor, Klick Laboratories has managed:
• Coordination with the structural engineer, Building Control and HSE
• Steel fabrication and detailed mezzanine floor design
• Preparation of reinforced concrete pads to provide a stable structural base
• Construction of the mezzanine and stairways
• New access integration to the modernised offices, canteen and breakout areas

The new first floor creates space for an admin area and dedicated welfare facilities for laboratory staff — another major step towards delivering ASI’s enhanced analytical capabilities.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2026 🔬

This year’s focus moves from talk to action — highlighting real solutions and good practices that are already helping to build more inclusive STEM environments.

On 11 February 2026, a global hybrid event at UNESCO will explore how closing the gender gap in and can turn vision into real impact, with a special focus on emerging technologies and equality.

Exciting progress on site as our contracts team continues work on the expansion of the facility for Analytical Services International.

Momentum is building, with key infrastructure now taking shape as our mechanical and electrical engineers deliver the foundations for ASI’s next phase of growth and enhanced analytical capability.

Key Milestones

• Mezzanine structure and staircase completed, creating space for a new administration area and staff facilities
• Nitrogen storage silo successfully installed
• Former computer room transformed into a new laboratory with pass-through hatch completed
• Canteen furniture installed and final fix completed, forming part of the new breakout space

We’re kicking off the new year with an update from one of our latest large-scale laboratory fit out projects for a local industrial processing company.

Our contracts has started by stripping the building back to its core, ready for a full transformation into a high-specification technical facility.

The project will deliver six new laboratories featuring chemical-resistant resin flooring and safety stations, alongside a sample processing area, plant room, breakout space, toilets, changing facilities and two new offices.

Our Contracts Manager is coordinating the entire programme, ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience for the client.

The scope includes:
• Upgrading mechanical and electrical systems to support the new laboratories
• Installing a new HVAC system
• Completing the laboratory fit out
• Modernising office and breakout areas
• New air conditioning and heating system throughout

We look forward to sharing progress as the project takes shape.

As 2025 draws to a close, our contracts team is working hard on the final projects of the year.

Below is a snapshot of some of our current sites as we tick off the last milestones before the festive break.

We’re already planning a busy start to 2026, with five new projects starting in January.

We marked with a festive lunchtime treat — pizzas and mince pies for everyone in the office. 🍕✨

Not the most traditional combo, but definitely a popular one!

Alongside the fun, we also wanted to support our local community.
Klick has made a donation to the Tree of Life Centre in to support their Christmas Dinner in a Bag initiative. This project provides food hampers to individuals and families facing food poverty, ensuring they have everything needed for a proper Christmas meal during what can be the hardest time of the year.
