Let’s clear this up once and for all…

I’m so done with the comments that dismiss women’s reality (usually made by women!).

Not everyone needs to eat that low calories, but it’s all relative and subjective to the individual.

Can we please stop making blanket statements about women’s calorie intake and start to understand the nuances and subjectivity of it?

She’s ready 🤩💪🏼

My client Sezin has flown over to Bristol from Belgium for her photoshoot on Friday.

Months of hard work, body fat low, muscle mass high.

The tough work is done, now it’s time to show off everything she’s achieved 👌🏼

As a mum, at 46, it’s would be easy to settle for “just fine”. But Sezin doesn’t work that way. She’s pushed herself way beyond that.

An inspiration to everyone, especially me!

Meet Louise ✨

Louise has exactly the same excuse as everyone else:

• She’s working extremely long hours
• She’s a mum to a son
• She’s tired and doesn’t get loads of sleep

But Louise wasn’t feeling or performing at her best, she was just coasting. She didn’t feel confident in her body and she knew she was capable of so much more.

As a petite woman, she knew she was fighting an uphill battle. She was going to need a strategy that worked for her.

She had tried to get in this sort of shape before with some success, but never quite reached the level she wanted.

But the difference between Louise and everyone else, is that she decided to use those “excuses” as motivation.

She understood that if she was ever to feel at her very best, she couldn’t wait for the right time, she needed to make it the right time.

Fast forward to now:

• 4 inches from her hips
• 4 inches from her chest
• 4 inches from her waist
• 4kg down

All amongst the chaos of 12 hour days in the salon and running a household.

Louise is living proof that if you embrace a specific strategy for your circumstances, there’s always a solution.

Before you come for me…

People misunderstand my stance on this and often get defensive, so let me be super clear 👇🏼

If you go from doing nothing, to doing something, you’ll see some improvement in muscle mass in the very early days. But then you need more stimulus to go further.

And PLEASE, if you enjoy your classes, do them to your hearts content. I don’t have a vendetta against them being used for what they are meant for. A fun, community centred workout.

And there are anomalies to every piece of science! So if you ended up with some muscle from your years of body pump that you were content with… cool! I salute you!

But my message is this:

I truly believe every woman should find her place in the weights room. Train to failure, lift heavy, create muscle building stimulus.

What’s muscle building stimulus?

The sufficient frequency, intensity, volume and structured programming.

This isn’t me vs classes, or me vs class instructors (because you lot always come for me).

I just believe in getting the correct information out there for those who want it. And if you don’t… you don’t have to listen. If you’re searching for answers as to why you’re not progressing, then you might want to listen.

Transformation Coaching, but on a whole new level 📈

I’ve just spent a few days in Colorado with the N1 Education team for the second time in 18 months.

This time to learn specifically about Transformation Coaching.

These trips cost me thousands to travel from the UK. And besides, I’ve been coaching 17 years already. So you might ask… why do I do it?

Let me explain…

Somewhere in the chaos, for most coaches, coaching has become about TikTok trends and instagram dick swinging.

It’s become about calling each other out, who’s making the most money and who can go viral.

But that isn’t and never was coaching.

Coaching for me was always about developing a set of skills, knowledge and understanding that can truly change someone’s life.

You can’t do that sitting at home making reels.

You have to be in rooms with the best in the business year after year. Learning the latest and most up to date science on deep physiology, exercise ex*****on, nutrition, behaviour change and how to apply it.

N1 Education are right at the forefront of that movement.

This is what makes the difference when it comes to a life changing client transformation.

You see a trip to America to learn about training and nutrition. I see an opportunity to refine tiny details in my clients journey that will make the difference between a good result and an incredible one.

Time to apply it 💪🏼

I’m specifically talking about protein synthesis - the internal process your body undertakes to build muscle - especially relevant after a hard training session.

Consuming alcohol reduces protein synthesis by 20-30%.

It’s not that by consuming one drink, you’re 30% worse off.

But protein synthesis will lower with the consumption of alcohol, which may inhibit your potential to grow muscle.

When we navigate this period of time most successfully, it’s because my clients fuelled properly.

They stopped trying to grind themselves down with super low calories and tonnes of classes and cardio.

They learned how to build muscle and strength train effectively.

But often people don’t want to hear that.
