The Medical Journey: How We Screen Our Surrogate Mothers
A successful surrogacy journey starts with health and safety. Our medical screening is a comprehensive, multi-step process designed to ensure the surrogate is physically and emotionally prepared to carry a healthy pregnancy.
Here’s what it involves:
1. Specialist Consultations
Every candidate is examined by a full medical team:
· Gynecologist: To assess reproductive health.
· General Practitioner: For overall health evaluation.
· Psychiatrist & Addictions Specialist: For official clearance.
2. Comprehensive Lab Testing
· Infectious Diseases: Full panel for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B & C (tests are valid for 3 months).
· Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Screening for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Mycoplasma, etc., to eliminate risks to the embryo.
· TORCH Complex: Immunity screening for Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, and Herpes. Vaccination is arranged if needed.
· General Health: Complete blood count (CBC), comprehensive metabolic panel, urinalysis, blood type, and Rh factor.
· Coagulogram: Checks blood clotting ability, crucial for a safe pregnancy.
· Pap Smear: Cervical cancer screening.
3. Diagnostics & Imaging
· Pelvic Ultrasound: A key exam to evaluate the uterus, endometrial lining, and ovaries.
· Electrocardiogram (ECG): Heart function check.
· Chest X-ray / Fluorography: To rule out pulmonary diseases.
4. Advanced Procedures (if indicated)
· Hormonal Profile: (AMH, FSH, LH, etc.) to assess ovarian reserve and balance.
· Hysteroscopy or Endometrial Biopsy: For a detailed view of the uterine cavity if required.
The Final Step: Approval is granted only by a formal Medical Commission at our licensed fertility clinic. Their green light is the essential foundation for moving forward.
This rigorous protocol is our commitment to safety, transparency, and the well-being of everyone involved in this extraordinary journey.
