If you’re a Guernsey resident and have an accident in Sark, it will cost £2420 for the Flying Christine to come and get you.

And then another £585 for the ambulance in Guernsey.

Can you afford not to have a £71 subscription?

For Sark residents the annual subscription is £164.

We would like to remind people in Alderney that they do not need to take out an ambulance subscription, due to the way the service in Alderney is funded.

Unlike Guernsey, where charges apply, ambulances in Alderney are paid for through local taxes, so
charges and subscriptions do not apply.

Alderney residents are also covered for ambulance call outs when they are visiting the other
islands and for transfers on the Flying Christine III marine ambulance.

Next week is Road Safety Week 2025, and Guernsey Police will be carrying out spot checks on drivers to check the roadworthiness of vehicles. We will also be using this as an opportunity to pursue drivers who have failed to register their vehicle properly in Guernsey.

We know that registering your vehicle is one of many things people have to do when they move to the island, but it is nonetheless a legal requirement that too many people are not undertaking.

Guernsey residents can only legally drive an imported vehicle on Guernsey roads for 48 hours without registering it. If you’re moving to the Bailiwick you can legally drive an imported vehicle for a grace period of 14 days. After this time, unregistered imported vehicles cannot lawfully be driven on the public highway.

You will see our officers and mechanics out and about stop checking vehicles to check their registration status next week, and, fitting in with the national theme of Road Safety Week, ensuing they are fit to be driven on the public highway. There will be a particular focus on commercial vehicles.

A person found guilty on summary conviction of driving an unregistered motor vehicle is liable to a fine not exceeding £2,000, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months, or to both a fine and imprisonment.

For more information about the requirements, go to: gov.gg/BuyingSellingAVehicle

Today, representatives from the Ambulance and Rescue Service joined communities across the British Isles to honour those who have been killed or injured in conflicts while fighting for our freedom — and all those who have given their lives in the service of humanity.

As part of the Bailiwick’s Act of Remembrance, a wreath was laid at the Smith Street War Memorial by senior members of our team.

We remember with gratitude and respect all who served, all who sacrificed, and all who continue to serve today. 🌺
