Hi there! My name is Charlotte ( ), and I have ADHD. ADHD stands for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and is a neurodevelopmental disorder that makes it difficult to stay attentive/focus and manage impulsive and hyperactive behaviours.

In more relatable terms, people with ADHD struggle with forgetfulness, difficulty starting or finishing a task, sitting still, fidgeting, and other characteristics that make it seem as though they were being driven by a motor!

If you can relate to these descriptions, click the link below to take our free ADHD Self Evaluation Test. Understanding what is going on within you is the first step to getting the help and support you need. You are not alone.

"You are not less because of your ADHD, you are more because of it"

This is something I've come to realise and accept more and more each day. Managing an ADHD brain has its challenges, but it also has its gifts.

We can learn to focus on making the best out of our gifts while trying to manage our challenges.

I literally cannot stress this enough. Get a professional medical opinion for whatever you feel you have. Symptoms alone plus the internet cannot be trusted to reveal with accuracy what the underlying cause of your issues is. The first step to getting the right treatment is getting a medical diagnosis. Without one, you'll be pouring so much time and effort into fixing a problem with the wrong tools and you'd spend your time wondering why on earth you're not moving forward. Effort in the wrong direction does not yield result..in the right direction however...

Wow..I just moved on to a whole new topic🤦🏾‍♀️

When I first decided to create awareness about ADHD in Ghana, the one thing i was sure of, was I was terrified. Terrified of feeling vulnerable, terrified that I'd have to expose my struggle, terrified that people wouldn't believe me.

But I believe that is a self-sabotaging mechanism engineered by our anxieties to keep us in a state of fear of vulnerability. Because it knows that ones you start to talk about it, you take one step further towards being able to overcome it. And that is what we really want, isn't it?

All these self help tips and medications and remedies we binge on are really just a way to cope with a reality we can't escape from.

Why not do yourself one better, talk about. To your friends, to tour family, to us. We are your community. I've taken the first step, will you be willing to do the same?

The only way to truly find people after your diagnosis is to accept it..embrace it. Understand it, and share it.

Hi! My name is Charlotte() and I was diagnosed with ADHD 4 years ago. Since then I have struggled to talk about it, manage it, get myself understood, understand myself, power through it, accept it, work with it and just basically do anything with it.

But the one thing I remember doing right after my diagnosis was to search for someone else in my community who I could talk to about it, aside my therapist. And guess what I found..nothing!

So I decided to create my own. A community() made up of ADHDers like you and me in Ghana! Let's support each other as we try to navigate through this very interesting yet challenging journey. I look forward to meeting you soon!

To medicate or not to medicate? That is one of the most controversial topics in the ADHD community. I believe it is your right as a neurodiverse person to gather all the necessary information available to help you make an informed decision on how you want to manage your ADHD. Whether or not you choose to use medication is a personal choice and either choice is okay.

What is not okay is the stigma associated with choosing to use medication to manage ADHD. Your right not to use medication should not disrupt someone else's right to use medication.

But ask yourself this though- would you prevent or shame someone for using medication to treat a physical medical condition? How is mental health any different?

ADHD is on a spectrum. That means that it differs in symptoms and intensity of symptoms from person to person.

The best way to help someone with ADHD is to listen to their experience and tailor a solution that actually makes a difference to them.

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines willpower as the "ability to control yourself; strong determination that allows you to do something difficult".

When it comes to ADHD, our will very rarely begets any power especially when it is a task we find boring or unstimulating or without immediate reward. For that reason we struggle over and over to get our minds to cooperate, and this struggle often leads to a negative feeling.

Creating false deadlines help us create a sense of urgency, which seems to be the only thing that helps get thr ADHD mind on track.

Ever feel like your work is missing some important details? With ADHD we constantly feel like our work is missing some important details, and more times than not it pans out to be true. When it comes to tasks like organising, planning, prioritizing and other executive functions, the ADHD brains just can't seem to figure them out on it's own. Which often makes the ADHDer end up feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks.

Helping us plan out and create a step-by-step checklist often helps keep our minds on the little details that so vehemently elude us.
