The Ga North Municipal Hospital today demonstrated exceptional emergency response capabilities, successfully averting a potential disaster following a fire outbreak at the facility. The swift actions of the hospital team, led by the Med. Supt. Dr. Victor Caesar, ensured the fire was brought under control before the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service.
The fire, which was caused by an overloaded metre that damaged a postpaid metre and wiring outlet supplying power to the hospital, was quickly extinguished using 25 fire extinguishers. The hospital's emergency preparedness was evident as staff efficiently utilized the serviced fire extinguishers and evacuated the area without incident, thanks to clear emergency exit routes.
The MCE for Ga North, Mr. Akwetey Agbo, and the Ag. RDHS, Dr. Robert Amesiya visited the hospital to assess the situation and discuss next steps. They also took the opportunity to commend the hospital team for their prompt response and effective use of firefighting equipment.
Mr. Akwetey Agbo, Dr. Robert Amesiya, and the hospital's management extend their appreciation to the Ghana National Fire Service, ECG, and NADMO for their swift response, support, and partnership.
Dr. Amesiya stresses that all facilities within the region should regularly check and service their fire extinguishers and ensure that all staff know how to use them.
