So this was me when I was young and foolish (as my boss will say🤭) at the end/beginning of every year. I would ransack our (my mum's) kitchen cabinet and refrigerator and throw out everything that had the passing year's date inscribed on it. Whether opened or unopened. My mother will complain and fuss (forgive me ma lol) but I won't budge. Her "tankas" daughter says it has expired so no one should eat it! Periodt!
Little did I know that there was a difference between best before (usually abbreviated as BB) date and expiry (EXP) date. 🙆🏽‍♀️🙆🏽‍♀️

Around the world food usually goes to waste especially because they don't know the difference between best before and expiry dates (swipe right to see difference) and therefore toss out food that is otherwise safe for consumption.

Most foods are safe a few weeks past the BB dates except for infant formula or baby food. If you're however in doubt, as in the food smells off or unsure of the date format (i.e. whether dd/mm or mm/dd the labelling can be tricky sometimes) then please throw it in the garbage. You're better safe than sorry.

Also helps in portion control. Don't carry your entire granola or with you to work and blame them for not meeting your new year weightloss target 😆😆.

Did you know having fresh pepper sauce is one simple way of including vegetables in your meals?

For me this is the only form in which I can eat raw tomatoes. Not in a salad or sandwich or juice 🤮.
°
Your pepper sauce doesn't have to be so hot that your mouth is literally on 🔥🔥. Just keep it mild or just the amount of heat you can tolerate so you can have lots of it.
°
Other veggies can feature on the side like chopped onions, cabbage, carrots, beets, ... just throw in whatever you like and enjoy 😋!

I see that most people tend to pour the oil that fish is canned in over their meals all in the name of including "healthy fats" in their diet. That oil doesn't contain omega-3 fatty acids my darling. It's usually just regular vegetable oil, unless the packaging says so.
