Frequent snacking spikes your insulin levels multiple times. Insulin is the fat hormone. The more frequently you snack, the more insulin spikes you generate, and the larger the fat deposits your body makes in response to the insulin spikes. GET SOME SUNSHINE!

There’s a reason it’s called the sunshine 🌞 vitamin. Vitamin D is more of a hormone than a simple vitamin. It affects every aspect of your body: your mood, your memory, your ability to fight infections, how you utilize fat, how well you sleep, your hair, the health if your skin, your bones and teeth, and many other aspects.

The body begins to make vitamin D when sunlight falls on exposed skin. This is part of the reason you need to get ADEQUATE sun exposure. The estimates vary, but 20 - 40 minutes of sun on exposed skin(without shades or sunscreen) is enough to produce adequate amounts of Vitamin D daily. The body does not store vitamin D in significant quantities. People in the tropics should generally get adequate sunshine, but this is not the case because of changing lifestyles.

People hardly get any sun nowadays… it’s straight from the room to the car to the office, and back the same way. No wonder vitamin D deficiency is so common.

Low levels of vitamin D are associated with weight gain and obesity as well as type 2 diabetes mellitus and even diseases like cancer. Vitamin D deficiency is also associated with depression and anxiety, sleep disorders and immune system disorders.

Where it is not possible to get adequate sunshine, supplementation can help. Talk to your clinic to get your levels checked. Talk to your pharmacist about getting some good vitamin D supplements. Adequate dosing is important.
