National Sanitation Day: Keniago Benefits as DCE Presents 10 Dustbins to Community.
The Amansie South District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Benjamin Marfo, has presented 10 dustbins to the people of Keniago as part of activities marking this month’s National Sanitation Day celebrations. The gesture formed part of government’s efforts to strengthen sanitation practices and encourage proper waste management in local communities.
The presentation was done during a massive clean-up exercise in Keniago, which brought together Assembly staff, the Assembly Member, unit committee members, traditional leaders (Nananom), and residents of the community. The exercise, which received enthusiastic patronage, saw participants sweeping and desilting the principal streets of Keniago and cleaning the surroundings of the Keniago Health Centre.
Speaking to the media after the event, Hon. Benjamin Marfo expressed his appreciation to the people of Keniago for their unity and support in making the exercise a success. He commended the strong turnout of residents, associations, and community leaders, noting that their participation reflected their commitment to the government’s sanitation campaign.
The DCE stressed that sanitation should not be left for government alone but must be seen as a shared responsibility among all citizens. “As a government, we are committed to ensuring clean and healthy communities. However, it is the responsibility of every individual to take part in this effort. That is why we have provided dustbins, and I urge every resident to use them properly by disposing refuse responsibly,” he said.
Hon. Marfo further emphasized that maintaining cleanliness should not be a one-off activity but rather a continuous practice to improve public health and prevent diseases.
Receiving the dustbins on behalf of the Keniago Traditional Council, Abusua panin and the Assembly Member for the Domi Keniago Electoral Area, Hon. Oduro Charles, together with Nana Osei Yeboah, expressed their gratitude to the DCE and the District Assembly. They pledged to ensure that the dustbins would be well maintained and used for their intended purpose to serve the entire community.
The clean-up exercise and the donation of dustbins form part of government’s broader initiative under the National Sanitation Day program/ aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, encouraging community involvement, and instilling a culture of proper waste management across the country.
