Your mental health is a priority because it affects every part of your life.

Your happiness is essential, and you deserve to feel at peace.

Your self-care is a necessity, not a luxury.

Take time to rest, breathe, and check in with yourself.

When you care for your mind and your heart, you become stronger, healthier, and more able to face life with hope.

Many people who think about su***de are often struggling with deep problems that feel too heavy to carry alone. Poverty can create constant worry, lack of support, and hopelessness. Depression can make someone feel empty, trapped, and disconnected from others. When these two challenges come together, the emotional burden can push a person toward harmful thoughts. It is important for us to look out for one another, show care, and create safe spaces where people can share their struggles. A simple act of kindness or listening ear can help someone find hope again.

Meet Zola, a remarkable artist who beautifully illustrates the power of creativity and resilience in the face of mental health challenges. Despite the difficulties he faces, Zola channels his spirit into stunning art, transforming natural materials like wood, palm fronds, beads, and stones into magnificent pieces like this carved giraffe and intricate mosaic. His work is not just art; it's a testament to his strength, a therapeutic outlet, and a powerful reminder that mental health struggles do not diminish one's capacity for creativity, joy, and profound accomplishment, showing that engaging with our passions can be a vital pathway to well-being. ✨

In August 2025, the leadership of the Mental Health Nurses Society (MHNS) embarked on a tour of the Ashanti Region to meet mental health nurses working within the region. They held two main meetings at CLOSAG and the GRNMA Hostel in Ejisu. The Ashanti Regional Chairman of GRNMA, Jones Afriyie Antoh, Esq., gave a warm welcome to all participants who had travelled from different districts.

He spoke about the welfare packages offered by GRNMA and encouraged members to remain united, instead of forming small splinter groups. He explained that such divisions weaken the Association and affect the strength of the profession.

Participants were happy for the chance to meet the MHNS leadership and requested more of such engagements in the future.

One thing he is grateful for is that he can still use his creativity to make beautiful things, even as he goes through his mental health journey.

It reminds us that people living with mental health challenges still have strength, talent and value. Let us support them with care and respect.

The work of Mental health nurses is not limited to the confines of the wards only. Mental health nurses respond to people who are distressed, unkempt or at risk in the community. Patients in such situations are provided with the needed first aid and reassurance to help stabilize them. These early steps restore dignity and build trust, making it easier for the individual to accept help.

After ensuring immediate safety, the nurse arranges for the person to be taken to the hospital for proper assessment and treatment. This bridge between street-level care and clinical care is essential, as it ensures that vulnerable people receive the medical attention, protection, and follow-up they need. Through this work, mental health nurses save lives and strengthen community safety.

Many people think mental health challenges take away a person’s talents. But this is not always true. Some people continue to create beautiful work even when they are going through difficult moments. This reminds us that everyone has strengths and support can help them use these strengths in positive ways.

Let us show more understanding, patience, and kindness toward people facing mental health issues. Creativity, skill, and value still remain in them. What they need most is encouragement, not judgement.
