ViSAX 2025 – A Transformative Journey in Vision Science ✨
The inaugural Vision Science Africa Exchange (ViSAX 2025) has successfully come to a close! Over the past five days, participants from across Africa and beyond immersed themselves in the foundations of vision science, evidence syntheses, psychophysics & experimental design, and clinical electrophysiology of vision.

From insightful lectures to hands-on practical sessions, the program fostered knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation, laying a strong foundation for building vision science research capacity on the continent.

We are grateful to our speakers, facilitators, collaborators, and enthusiastic participants who made this journey impactful. Indeed, this is only the beginning of a brighter future for vision science in Africa. 🌍👁💡

A special appreciation goes to our PI Enyam Ame , the School of Optometry & Vision Science - SOVS, UCC and the team at Divfur Lab for putting together such an amazing summer school.

Day 2 at ViSAX 2025; Foundations of Vision Science
The summer school kicked off with an exciting dive into the optics and neurobiology of vision; from light and image formation to retinal circuitry and cortical processing. Participants also engaged in hands-on practical sessions, exploring photometry and ocular biometry techniques such as pachymetry, keratometry, and axial length measurement.

It was an inspiring start, laying a solid foundation for the days ahead of learning, collaboration, and innovation in vision science. 🌍👁✨
