As a growing bartender it has always picked my interest at being exceptionally creative which the theme of the barcadi rum day contest calls for. On that note, I made way around making a cocktail inspired by creativity with two African fruits, the White kola nuts (Mijingoro) as popularly known in Ghana, and dates fruits. These fruits seems neglected by a lot of people even though some may know it’s benefits, but because of its bitterness. The African accuminata produces these caffeine filled seeds. Their initial bitterness gives way to an earthy sweetness. For the Igbo and other west africans, kola nuts symbolizes goodwill, love and respect for elders. Besides, it possesses an undeniable benefits such as being able to; boost metabolism, aid digestion, boost to energy levels and its antibacterial effect to the human body.
The dates are also good source of energy, fiber, sugar and various vitamins and minerals.which are all great contributors to fighting diseases.
So there on,I was pushed by the zeal to be able to blend and made juices out of them ,paired a few other ingredients like fresh pineapple juice , honey, lemon juice
and a few drops of vanilla essence for flavor spark since it best pairs with one of my favorite rums ,Rum Carta Oro.
