One of the needs of every man or woman is RESPECT. Every human, irrespective of gender deserves to be respected. But for a man, it's inbuilt. It is like food.
You will be doing yourself and your marriage a great disservice as a woman if you don't respect him, no matter highly placed or anointed you are.
For a woman who is the firstborn of her family, the test is real. You might be tempted to disrespect him or treat him as one of your siblings - issuing commands and instructions.
If you want to enjoy your marriage, let the leadership in you end in your father's house.
When you disrespect him consistently, you are hurting his ego, and he will resist it - not necessarily by anger, aggression but by withdrawal.
Instead of instruction, suggest
Instead of command, advice
Instead of competition, complement.
Instead of complaints, communicate
Instead of comparison, appreciate.
Dear single men, know what you NEED in marriage, and one of the things you need as a man is RESPECT. If you observe that a lady can not give you that, please do the needful. As a single lady, if he's someone you can not respect, no matter his age, financial capacity, position, etc, please don't marry him.
Above all, mutual respect is key. When a man respects his wife, you won't see domestic violence, cheating, etc. When a woman respects her husband, she will act with decency, modesty, and maturity. This is regardless of the age gap, financial capacity, position - spiritual or physical.
