IPH Project HOPE paid a courtesy visit to Tema General Hospital, where they undertook a facility tour, supportive supervision and held a management engagement.
The visit provided an opportunity for interaction with hospital management, familiarization with key departments, and discussions on areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and institutional capacity.

Support for Tema General Hospital

The Male Surgical Ward of Tema General Hospital has been renovated by The Hindu Monastery of Africa ( Tema Branch) to commemorate the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Hindu Monastery of Africa and the historic initiation of H.H. Swami Ghanananda Saraswati as the first African Hindu monk.

The renovated ward was officially handed over to the Management of Tema General Hospital on 28th January 2026, marking a significant moment of partnership, service, and community impact.

Tema General Hospital Successfully Concludes PMS Automation Training

Tema General Hospital has successfully concluded a four-day training programme on the Ghana Health Service Performance Management System (PMS) Automation, ahead of its official rollout.

The training engaged Management, Heads of Department, In-Charges, and all staff, focusing on the system interface, navigation, and the roles and privileges of Appraisees, Appraisers, and Countersigning Officers. Participants were also guided on the importance of appraisers’ meetings and effective annual goal setting.

Participation throughout the sessions was highly encouraging, demonstrating staff commitment and readiness to embrace the new automated performance management system for improved efficiency and accountability.

Tema General Hospital Successfully Concludes PMS Automation Training

The Mental Health Authority Visiting Committee paid a courtesy call at Tema General Hospital and met with the Management to discuss and explore ways to further improve mental health services at the facility and the the Tema enclave as well as scaling up the practice

During the visit, the Visiting Committee toured the OPD, the psychiatric and psychology units of the mental health department. There were further interactions with doctors, nurses, and patients to better understand service delivery and patient needs

The visit reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening mental health care and promoting quality, compassionate and patient-centered services.
