On Saturday, 28th February 2026, the Management and staff of Tema General Hospital gathered at the Community 5 No. 3 School Park to bid a final farewell to our noble colleague, the late SNO Francisca Obeng.

It was a solemn and emotional moment—one of deep reflection on the memories shared and the meaningful relationships she built with staff and patients alike. The atmosphere was heavy with grief as we paid our last respects to a cherished sister, colleague, and friend.

SNO Francisca Obeng will forever remain in our hearts and thoughts for the invaluable role she played in her lifetime and for her dedicated service to Tema General Hospital. Her kindness, professionalism, and commitment to duty will never be forgotten.

She will be deeply missed.

May her noble soul rest in perfect peace.

The ENT Unit of Tema General Hospital proudly climaxed the World Hearing Day celebration today, 3rd March 2026, by continuing its free ear screening exercise and delivering a health talk at Good News School, Community 12.

The event recorded a high turnout at the unit, with clients attending their routine check-ups and reviews, as well as patients who took advantage of the opportunity to benefit from the free ear screening exercise. Some children’s wards were also visited, where free ear screenings were conducted for admitted patients.

Participants had the opportunity to ask relevant questions on how to maintain good ear and hearing health. Various ENT conditions were diagnosed, appropriate treatments were provided, and informative sessions were held to educate participants on the prevention of ear and hearing problems.

The World Hearing Day celebration at Tema General Hospital was successful and memorable. It highlighted the vital role ENT healthcare providers play in delivering comprehensive ear, nose, and throat care to the people of Tema and beyond. It also encouraged the community to safeguard their hearing health, reinforcing the message that ear and hearing care are essential for communication, learning, and social participation—and must be protected.

We will continue to act so no one is left behind due to ear and hearing problems.

THE WORLD HEARING DAY CELEBRATION – 3RD MARCH 2026.

From Communities to Classrooms: Hearing Care for Every Child

In commemoration of World Hearing Day, an initiative led globally by the World Health Organization (WHO), the ENT Unit of Tema General Hospital is organizing a FREE Ear Screening Exercise for Children.

Monday 2nd – Tuesday 3rd March 2026

Venue: ENT Unit, Male Surgical Block
Flyers have been posted at the various children’s wards and units as reminders.

We kindly urge all mothers and caregivers to bring their children/wards for examination. Early detection of ear and hearing problems can prevent learning difficulties and developmental delays.

A solemn candlelight vigil was held at the Training Unit of Tema General Hospital in honor of our beloved colleague, SNO PH Francisca Obeng.

Staff, management, trainees, family, and friends gathered in unity to pay their final respects. Together, we shared fond memories and celebrated a life dedicated to compassionate service and unwavering professionalism.

The evening was filled with quiet reflection, prayers, and heartfelt tributes to a remarkable nurse whose impact will forever remain in our hearts. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of humility and dedication to duty lives on in every life she touched.

Officials from the KPMG And Ministry of Health together with the Management of Tema General Hospital toured the abandoned new hospital project to assess its current condition and inspect the facility.

The visit formed part of efforts to evaluate the status of the project, identify existing challenges that led to a halt and explore practical steps toward its completion.

Reviving this project will significantly enhance healthcare delivery and improve access to quality services for the people of Tema and its surrounding communities.

TEMA METROPOLITAN ASSEMBLY DEMOLITION EXERCISE AT TEMA GENERAL HOSPITAL

Yesterday, the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), led by the Hon. Metropolitan Chief Executive (Mayor), carried out a demolition exercise in front of the Tema General Hospital.

This exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to restore order, improve sanitation, and enhance safety and accessibility within the hospital environment.

The cleared area is expected to:
✅ reduce congestion
✅ improve traffic flow
✅ create a safer and more conducive atmosphere for patients, health workers, visitors, and the general public.

The Assembly has reaffirmed its strong commitment to effective urban planning, public safety, and the continuous development of Tema. Residents and traders are also encouraged to cooperate with city authorities to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized metropolis.
