TRIBUTE TO THE LATE HONOURABLE LAWYER PRINCE ERNEST ODURO MENSAH.

The NSA on Saturday, 6th August joined the family of our late Former Chief Executive Officer Hon. Lawyer Prince Ernest Oduro Mensah to mourn and Pay Tribute at HIS final funeral rites at the Techiman South Municipal Assembly Community Centre.

NSA TRIBUTE
‘‘Give me the wings of faith to rise
within the veil and see
the saints above, how great their joys
how bright their glories be’’

‘‘There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens’’ – Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV

It is of sorrowful heart that, the Management and staff of the National Sports Authority pays tribute to our former Chief Executive. In whatever role we knew him, from whatever vantage point, Hon. Oduro-Mensah stood apart as someone very special.

Hon. Oduro-Mensah was appointed by H.E President John A. Kuffour as the Chief Executive of the National Sports Authority then Council.

Hon. Oduro-Mensah is arguably regarded as the best Chief Executive or Director General since the inception of the 4th Republic. His legacies are unmatched and amongst them are: He successfully led the negotiation for the Staff of the National Sports Authority to be placed onto the Controller and Accountant General Department’s payroll in November 2007 which brought payment of salaries on a tabletop to an end. Again, it was during his tenure that the Authority witnessed a massive injection of university graduates into the Authority.

He had the welfare and interest of the staff at heart. His biggest strength was dialogue and discussion. In 2009, when Hon. Oduro-Mensah was seconded to the Ministry of Youth and Sports as the Technical Director, there was sobbing and sorrow amongst staff since to most of us he was irreplaceable as most of the programmes, and initiatives before his secondment were in the germination stage which was subsequently abandoned by his successors.

It was during his tenure as the Chief Executive of the National Sports Authority that the Accra Sports stadium and other big stadia were renovated and refurbished for the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana. After the African Cup of Nations, he successfully opposed and stood against the privatization of all the major stadia in the Country.
These achievements by him were much appreciated and welcomed as great success and relief for all Staff. He brought development for the progress of all staff during his tenure as the Chief Executive. Hon. Oduro-Mensah later left the service of the Authority in the year 2009 to the Ministry of Youth and Sports as a Director. We received his death with shock as we did not see it coming.
Your staff at the National Sports Authority say it was a great privilege to have been part of the National Sports Authority’s life. We believe that you have fought a good fight for posterity to remember your good deeds and therefore, you would always linger on our minds.

Hon. Oduro-Mensah, our cherished former Chief Executive will be missed by many, but never will he be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
