The Upper West Regional Health Directorate has partnered with the 2014 winner of the Ghana Most Beautiful (GMB) pageant, Miss Abigail Baciara Bentie, popularly known as Queen Baci, to provide health education and screening for residents of Wa in the Upper Region.
The team conducted health screening through her Malol-lol Ghana foundation (MGF), distributed nose masks for over 1200 residents, provided awareness creation and education of beneficiaries on healthy lifestyle and diet, and provided COVID-19 vaccination for eligible persons who turned for the exercise.
The Upper West Regional Director of Health Service, Dr. Damien Punguyire, commended the Beauty Queen for the health initiative, which seeks to improve the health of the indigenes. The Director urged her to use her exemplary life to help fight the high incidence of teenage pregnancy in the region by serving as a role model for the up-and-coming young girls in the area.
Malol-lol Ghana Foundation was launched on 30th May 2015 by queen Baci as a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political organization to thank Ghanaians for the support given her during the 2014 contest.
Malol-lol is an indigenous Sissali word from the Upper West region where the queen hails, which means 'Thank You'.

'I took my second shot of the AstraZeneca brand of the COVID19 vaccine earlier today(1st September, 2021). It feels good to note that l am fully vaccinated and protected against the virus. That notwithstanding, l am not taking any chances at all as far as this virus is concern. I will continue to mask up, sanitize hands, social distance and limit being in a crowded, enclosed areas until new evidence proves that it is safe to return pre-pandemic social environment. I encourage you too to go for the vaccine when you have the opportunity and observe all the proven public health and social measures.
Vaccines Safe Lives'!!!-Dr. Damien Punguyire, Regional Director of Health Service, Upper West Region.
