Winged Dreams

Winged Dreams Winged Dreams a Registered Charity set up to raise funds to help Gambian Families. Providing food, basic Health support and Education. Winged Dreams.

Winged Dreams a Registered Charity (No 1153276) was set up to raise funds to help destitude Gambian Families. Providing food, basic medical needs and education through sponsorship.
£25 buys a sack of rice that feeds a family for at least a month. £10 pays a childs school fees for a month. £20 pays school fees, uniform, shoes, books and lunch for a child for a month. Carol Pearce first visited Gambia in 1998 and over many years started to help a number of families and their communities. This vision then grew via facebook and many donations in January 2012. Personal development weekends were set up by Carol & Wendy Overall. We all give our time freely. Everyone attending donates £25 which buys a sack of rice. This feeds a Gambian Family for an entire month. So we all benefit from the wonderful work! Winged Dreams is supported and organised by the wonderful group of its Founder members. We have an active board of trustees and raise money through appeals, & fund raising events throughout the year. We currently have over 50 families sponsored, I total over 100 children are supported. We have also built 2 new classrooms in a tiny village school in Busumballa. We also raised enough money to put in a tap & flush toilets! There are 4 winged dreams junior football teams, an adult literacy project and we also held individuals set up small businesses with a set up grant. The Charity office located in Lamin provides emergency food supplies to help the most destitute with Rice and basic supplies. A small fund is also available for responding to urgent medical needs, it costs £5 to be seen by a Dr in a hospital! We really do save lives.

Saying our farewells today. We have been very busy for 2 weeks visiting all our families and projects. Our amazing team of Fatima and Kemo , wonderful ambassadors for our charity have worked extremely hard. Lots of tears at the airport… we will be back! Thank you to everyone who supports us. Remember the Trustees are all self funding. All donations reach their destination without any admin fees or costs. We all pay our own way to come and stay in Gambia. ❤️

Visiting Abuko Health Clinic. A new venture for the area built with government funds but has very limited facilities. We gave them a Defibrillator which had been donated by the Seer Green Community in Buckinghamshire. The medical team couldn’t believe it and were so grateful. A short instruction and they released how simple it is to use, it will save many lives in the community. We will continue to keep in touch and hope to assist them again in the future. A fabulous committed team helping their community. They have over 1000 Out patients a month and numbers are growing. They also provide full immunisation to the children from birth and support expectant mums. As well as other medical issues. Refering patients on to the bigger hospitals when needed. ❤️

A great motor mechanic project at John Pickering School for those less academic. They have very few tools only those seen in the photo and use the tree to pull out engines with ropes, which is NOT very safe! We hope to be able to support them in the future and made a small contribution to buy a few more spanner’s!
