Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy captured a remarkable image showing skydiver Gabriel Brown silhouetted against the Sun’s chromosphere. To achieve the shot, McCarthy set up a hydrogen-alpha solar telescope in the Arizona desert, precisely tuned to reveal the Sun’s surface detail and prominences. At the same moment, Brown jumped from an aircraft and followed a carefully calculated trajectory that carried him directly across the Sun’s disk, aligning human motion with solar scale in a single frame.
