Under the Cultural Exchange Programme between India and Guyana, a folk dance group from Uttar Pradesh, India, visited the Radha Krishna Mandir in Reliance, Essequibo, to celebrate Diwali with the temple devotees.
On this occasion, the group enthralled the audience with a mesmerizing performance of the folk dance and music of the Braj Bhumi region of Uttar Pradesh.
The group's tour was sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Guyana; the High Commission of India to Guyana; the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Georgetown; and several diaspora organizations in Guyana.
The tour commenced in Essequibo on October 16th with an event held in collaboration with the Radha Krishna Mandir. The Honourable Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Shri Rudra Jayanta Bhagawati, was present on the occasion and addressed the audience with Diwali greetings. The Director also presented copies of the Bhagavad Gita to all the members of the Mandir and a brass Shri Krishna Murti,an award,recognition status SO to the temple priest, Shri Chandrashekar Sharma.
