🌍✨ Embracing the Universal Right to Mental Health 🧠 On this Mental Health Day, let's resonate with the powerful truth that mental well-being is a universal human right. In a world that constantly demands our attention, it's essential to acknowledge and prioritize our mental health. Today, I encourage each of you to take a moment for self-reflection, to be kind to yourself and others, and to foster a community where conversations about mental health are met with empathy and understanding. Together, let's break the stigma and build a world where everyone has the right to a healthy mind. 💚

Today we observe World Mental Health Day 2022 under the theme "Make Mental Health and Well-being for all a Priority". This year we make the continued call for greater investment in mental health care by all governments and key stakeholders. We stand with the WHO in their call for greater access to mental health services. We like them believe that, "We must strengthen mental health care so that the full spectrum of mental health needs is met through a community-based network of accessible, affordable and quality services and support".

“Creating hope through action”

Today we spread the message of Hope. We encourage those who may be at a point of hopelessness and helplessness to remember that they are loved, they are cared for and there is help.

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.” ~ Albus Dumbledore.

Su***de is a major public health issue. Globally, almost 800,000 people die from su***de each year. While Su***de is not predictable, it can be preventable. Alertness to the cries for help made by individuals contemplating su***de may help prevent suicidal behaviour. Today we debunk some common myths about su***de in an effort to raise awareness and save lives.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month —a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized, and often taboo, topic. We use this month to shift public perception, spread hope and share vital information to people affected by su***de. The goal is to ensure that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss su***de prevention and to seek help.

High-Functioning Depression can be difficult to understand. Although this mental health condition doesn’t stipulate the tasks, capabilities, and ambition of an individual, there are a couple of specific challenges related to an individual’s behaviour and mood, which affect their lifestyle.

This week we shed some light on a less talked about form of Depression: High-Functioning Depression.
Someone with high-functioning depression can appear like they are doing well on the outside. They can fulfil all of their usual responsibilities and even take part in leisure activities.
But, in reality, a person with high-functioning depression is not coping. They have had a consistently low mood for over two years with very few moments of relief. All of the tasks and commitments they accomplish take a huge amount of effort and energy.
Essentially, someone with this type of depression still has depression. They are also susceptible to major depressive episodes. But they can just hide it better than others.

As we continue this week's focus on ADHD, today we turn our attention to the second category of symptoms associated with ADHD: Hyperactivity and Impulsiveness.

According to the NHS, these symptoms can cause significant problems in a child's life, such as underachievement at school, poor social interaction with other children and adults, and problems with discipline. Remember, ADHD can affect children, teenagers and adults. But with proper diagnosis, treatment and support, the symptoms of ADHD can be relieved, allowing those with the condition to better cope with the challenges of everyday life.

The symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be categorised into 2 types of behavioural problems:
Inattentiveness (difficulty concentrating and focusing)
Hyperactivity and impulsiveness

Today we focus primarily on the symptoms of Inattentiveness (difficulty concentrating and focusing). Once correctly diagnosed by a mental health professional, treatment can be provided that may relieve symptoms and make everyday life more manageable.

We decided to share some much-needed information on Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) by popular request.

According to global statistics, an overwhelming number of children and young people are diagnosed with ADHD each year. Unfortunately, unlike many other mental health conditions, there is no single test diagnosis for ADHD; it is essential to consult a mental health care professional if you or a loved one exhibits signs and symptoms of ADHD. We will continue to share helpful information on this condition for the remainder of this week.
