Rejection: the word that makes every artist's heart skip a beat.

As an theatre person, fundraiser, and simply a human being, I've faced my fair share of "no's".

But guess what? Each rejection has been a stepping stone to where I am today. 🎭💪

In theatre, every audition that didn't go my way (a long time ago as I haven’t auditioned for 100 years, ha!!) taught me resilience. In fundraising, each "not interested" pushed me to refine my pitch. And in life? Well, rejection has been my greatest teacher in self-belief and perseverance.

Here 's what I've learned:

1. Rejection isn't personal - it's just redirection.
2. Every "no" brings you closer to your "yes".
3. Your worth isn't defined by others' opinions.
4. Rejection breeds creativity - it forces you to think outside the box!

Even the ‘greats’ faced rejection. What sets them apart is that they never gave up. Fellow dreamers and creators, let's wear our rejections as badges of honour. They're proof that we're out there, trying, growing, and getting stronger with each attempt. 🌟

There's a reason why we crave that warm embrace - it's not just comforting, it's essential for our wellbeing! Hugs are like a natural stress-buster. They lower our cortisol levels, helping us feel calmer and more relaxed. But that's not all! When we hug, our bodies release oxytocin, often called the 'love hormone'. It's nature's way of boosting our happiness and making us feel connected.

Ever noticed how a hug can make a tough day better? That's because hugs offer comfort and reassurance, reminding us we're not alone. They're a universal language of love and support. An original musical production about the power of optimism and empowerment, performed by young local talents

In 2055, a group of extraordinary young people from around the world, the “Crystal Children”, come together to confront the consequences of climate change. Knowing that the fate of the planet rests in their hands, the bold protagonists arm themselves with a shared determination to coexist harmoniously with nature.

Witness the story of empowerment and optimism at the heart of Gen Last – the original musical written and directed by HKYAF founder Lindsey McAlister, and co-presented and co-produced by WestK and the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation.

No matter how daunting the task may seem, break it down into smaller, manageable steps. This not only makes the process feel less overwhelming but also provides a clear roadmap to follow. Tackle one step at a time, and celebrate each mini-milestone along the way.

2. Eliminate Distractions 🚫📱
Create an environment conducive to focus and productivity. Minimise potential distractions by silencing notifications, closing unnecessary tabs or apps, and setting aside dedicated time for your task. This mental clarity will help you dive in and maintain momentum.

3. Start Imperfectly 👣
Perfectionism can be paralyzing. Instead of waiting for the perfect conditions or inspiration, take the first step, no matter how small or imperfect. The act of starting will generate its own momentum, and you can refine and improve as you go. Progress, not perfection, should be your initial goal. By simplifying the process and embracing imperfect action, you'll build momentum and unlock your potential.

Recently read the book Shantaram... A Journey of Redemption and Self-Discovery!

Gregory David Roberts' "Shantaram" is a captivating tale that weaves together adventure, philosophy, and human connection.

The story follows Lin, an escaped Australian convict who finds refuge in the bustling streets of Mumbai. As he navigates this new world, Lin becomes entangled with the local underworld, forms deep friendships, and falls in love, all while seeking redemption for his past.

The novel explores themes of identity, belonging, and the human capacity for both good and evil. Lin's journey symbolises the transformative power of love and the possibility of second chances. The vibrant depiction of Mumbai serves as a metaphor for life itself - chaotic, beautiful, and full of unexpected turns.

Symbolism abounds in "Shantaram". The slums represent both despair and hope, while the character of Prabaker embodies pure joy and acceptance. The recurring motif of fire symbolises both destruction and purification, mirroring Lin's own path to redemption.
