🇭🇰👶🏼 HONG KONG BIRTH STORIES
💖 Sara’s birth journey was a powerful and emotional vaginal twin birth at Queen Mary Hospital. Whilst a c-section was the original plan as twin births can be unpredictable, the universe had other ideas when Sara’s waters broke the day before her scheduled c-section. Sara’s birth preferences changed at the point and she, with the help of her partner, Ben, was able to advocate for a vaginal birth.
She chose gas & air for pain relief and after an hour of pushing, doctors recommended an episiotomy and vacuum assistance to help deliver Baby One.
Once Baby One arrived safely, the team broke Baby Two’s waters - the second delivery progressed fast, but was much less controlled.
💫 While both baby girls were born safely, Sara experienced complications when her placenta detached, causing heavy bleeding. Thankfully, surgery was avoided, although she required a blood transfusion the following day.
🌸 The girls were born at 37 weeks, didn’t require NICU care and the whole family was able to go home together after just 3 days 🤍
Thank you so much for sharing your story, Sara 🫶🏼
