The Hong Kong Society of Community Medicine welcomes the passage of the Smoking (Public Health) (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the Legislative Council today to prohibit new forms of to***co products from entering Hong Kong market. This is an important milestone in the history of to***co control and a significant achievement of public health of Hong Kong.

The ban of new forms of to***co products to enter Hong Kong will not only protect the health of us but also safeguard the health of our future generations from the hazards of these products. It also sets an example for other jurisdictions to follow and contributes to ending the global to***co epidemic.
