🔵ANDROPAUZA🔵

Age-related hormonal changes affect not only women, but also men.
Andropause is a less common term for "male menopause", which describes the age-related changes in men's hormone levels.

It is also known as testosterone deficiency, androgen deficiency, male menopause or male climax. Andropause is associated with a decrease in testosterone production and mostly affects men aged 50 and over.
However, it is important to know that not all men are affected.

Testosterone is a s*x hormone produced in the te**es that fuels s*x drive, pubertal changes, mental and physical energy, maintains muscle mass and regulates the fight-or-flight response, i.e. the acute stress response, as well as other key evolutionary characteristics.

Although testosterone levels decline with age in men, the decline is less than 2% per year between the ages of 30 and 40, so it is unlikely to be a problem in itself. A testosterone deficiency later in life, also known as late hypogonadism, can sometimes be responsible for these symptoms, but in many cases the complaints have nothing to do with hormones

Male menopause can cause a number of physical and s*xual problems, which usually worsen with age. These may include, among others:
- lack of s*xual desire
- erectile dysfunction,
- impotence,
- premature ej*******on,
- weight gain
- reduced muscle mass and tone
- urinary disorders.

👉Lifestyle changes are needed to alleviate the symptoms. A healthy diet, regular exercise, getting enough sleep and reducing stress are central to turning your health around.

ℹThe age of transition is always a complex set of psychological and physical symptoms, a natural biological process that occurs over time for both s*xes.

🟣THE FEMALE MENOPAUSE - MENOPAUSE 🟣
For women, we talk about menopause, which is the end of the age of fertility. In practice, this means that the ovaries' production of follicle hormone decreases and then stops over time, causing oestrogen levels to drop and menstruation to stop over time.
This is a natural process in women's lives, typically starting between 45 and 60 years of age.

As a result of this rapid hormonal change, women may notice the following symptoms:
- hot flashes become more frequent
- night sweats and sleep problems
- hair loss
- weight gain
- decreased libido
- extreme mood swings.
As the age of change is inevitable, the most important thing is acceptance and mental preparation for the 'new' state. The symptoms of menopause can make everyday life difficult, but the good news is that the unpleasant side effects can be alleviated: regular exercise, a healthy and balanced diet and the elimination of harmful habits can support your body and your body during this period.
🟣It's important to remember! Menopause is a natural phase of life that can bring challenges but also opportunities.

Caring for Elderly Relatives

Caring for elderly family members is a responsibility that many of us will face sooner or later. In this post, we've gathered practical tips to help support family members who provide care with dedication.

Caring for elderly relatives spans multiple domains, including physical, emotional, and psychological aspects. Challenges that come with age, such as limited mobility or cognitive changes, can impact not only the individual but also the daily lives of those around them. It's important to be prepared and equipped with the right information to assist our elderly and dependent relatives.

👉 WHERE TO BEGIN?
The first and most crucial step is to assess exactly how much and what kind of assistance the individual needs. To understand the tasks and the amount of time/energy they'll require, consider going through the following two lists.

📜 List of Daily Activities

Personal Hygiene
Performing personal hygiene tasks, including daily grooming, oral hygiene, and hair and nail care.

Continence Management
The individual's ability to use the restroom properly.

Dressing
This includes the ability to put on clothes and select appropriate attire for different occasions.

Eating
The ability to eat independently.

Mobility
This doesn't necessarily mean exercise, but rather whether the individual can move around their home independently.

📜 The second list should include the following useful daily activities:

Social Interaction
A fundamental need in this category. It indicates how much and what type of social interaction and assistance the individual requires to maintain a positive outlook in daily life.

Traveling and Shopping
Can the individual manage shopping on their own?

Meal Preparation
Can someone plan various meals, do the necessary shopping, store the purchased food properly, and prepare meals?

Maintaining the Household
Can the individual keep their living space clean and manage laundry?

Medication Management
Can the person fill prescriptions and take the prescribed amount of medication daily?

Communication
Can someone receive mail, communicate via phone or internet?

Financial Management
Can the person manage their bank account and bills, ensuring they are paid on time?

Caring for elderly family members requires dedication and attention. We can make our situation easier by understanding the specific tasks we need to address. And if we feel overwhelmed, there's no shame in seeking help.

Remember, you're not alone in this journey. Support systems, resources, and guidance are available to ensure the best care for your elderly relatives.

As we enjoy the summer and the pleasant sunshine, it is important to be aware of the UV rays emitted by the Sun and their effects on our skin.

🔆 What are UV-A and UV-B?
UV-A and UV-B rays are two types of ultraviolet radiation that come from the Sun to the Earth's surface. UV-A rays pe*****te deep into the skin and cause aging. UV-B rays have a shorter wavelength but more strongly affect the upper layer of the skin and are responsible for sunburns.

🔆 Why are they harmful to our skin?
UV-B rays cause sunburn, which can result in redness, blistering, and pain in the short term. In the long term, UV-B rays can contribute to the development of skin cancer. UV-A rays also damage the skin, leading to aging, wrinkles, and loss of skin elasticity.

🔆 Why is protection important?
In addition to the information already presented in previous posts about why it is worth protecting our skin, we would like to highlight moles. Moles are pigmented spots on the skin that can easily become cancerous, so their monitoring and protection are essential!

🔆 When should you go for screening?
Regular skin screenings can help identify skin cancer at an early stage. Therefore, it is advisable to visit a dermatologist once a year.

🔆 Monitoring moles:
It is important to regularly monitor moles and notice any changes. The "ABCDE" rule can be helpful in examining moles. The first five letters of the alphabet represent the initial letters of an English word, so it may be a bit harder to remember in Hungarian what to pay attention to when it comes to each mole and whether it needs to be removed.

A as assymetri
If the shape of the mole is not regular but rather asymmetrical.

B as border
If the edges of the mole are blurred, not sharp.

C as color
If the color of the mole is not uniform, with multiple shades.

D as diameter
If the diameter of the mole exceeds 6 mm (larger than a pencil eraser).

E as evolving
If the mole changes in size, shape, color, starts to itch or bleed.

It is important to be aware of our skin and know when and what to pay attention to regarding moles. Take care of your skin's health and do not hesitate to seek medical advice if you notice any suspicious changes.

WOUND INFECTION

An accidental cut, a bruise on the knee: no matter how small the injury or how insignificant the wound may seem, bacteria can get into the injured part of your body and, if they multiply, can even cause a wound infection.

➡️ What is a wound infection?
Wound infection occurs when bacteria or other pathogens multiply in the wound. This can lead to inflammation, swelling, redness and pain in the wound area.

➡️ How can wound infections be prevented?
Below are some important tips for preventing wound infections:
🔹 Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before coming into contact with wounds.
🔹 Keep wounds clean and dry! If the wound is dirty, wash gently with lukewarm water and mild soap first!
🔹 Use sterile dressings or bandages to cover wounds to protect them from dirt and bacteria!
🔹 Do not squeeze or scratch wounds as this opens the door to infection!
🔹 As much as possible, avoid direct contact with people or objects that could be at risk of infection!

➡️ When to seek medical help for wound infections?
If you notice symptoms such as severe pain, swelling, redness, pus or fever in the wound area, seek medical attention immediately.

TYPE OF WOUNDS
OPEN WOUND

➡ What is an open wound?
Open wounds are gaps in the continuity of the skin tissue caused by external impact and physical harm - they can be deep or even superficial and usually result in bleeding.

➡What are the causes of open wounds?
Open wounds can be caused by various accidents or injuries. These can include
- Burns (thermal, chemical, electrical)
- Puncture wounds (e.g. caused by a needle)
- Cut or incised wound (e.g. knife or bullet)
- Abrasions (usually caused by a fall)
- Lacerated wound

➡ What symptoms can open wounds cause?
The symptoms of open wounds can vary depending on the area affected and the severity of the injury. In general, the symptoms of open wounds include bleeding, pain, swelling around the wound, the presence of foreign bodies or dirt.

➡ How should open wounds be treated?
Treating open wounds is important to prevent infection and promote healing.
First, wash your hands thoroughly with disinfectant soap before approaching the wound. Gently clean the wound with mild soapy water and then rinse with running water. Apply a sterile dressing or wound dressing to cover the wound to protect it from infection and environmental contaminants.
The first few days after the injury are characterised by inflammation - the clotting that follows blood clotting helps to protect against infection and dehydration, after which healthy sarcoid tissue begins to appear and then the scarring process starts.

➡ When to seek medical help for opened wounds?
If the wound is extensive, the bleeding does not stop, the wound site remains painful and swollen for days afterwards, or if there are any signs of infection (e.g. pus formation).

Glycerine🔎

Glycerine is an essential component of fats and is therefore found in all living cells. It is colourless, odourless, liquid at room temperature, suitable for human consumption and has a sweet taste, hence its name from the Greek word 'glycos', which means sweet in Greek.

In nature, it is mostly extracted from vegetable oils, but it can also be easily produced chemically from propylene, as it is found in the human body and is therefore skin-safe.

Glycerine is used in a wide range of applications because of its effective water-binding capacity. In the food industry it is used to prevent food from drying out, while in the cosmetics industry it is found in most face creams, hand creams and hair care products because of its moisturising properties.

It is important to be aware, however, that while glycerine soothes, replenishes and moisturises the skin, in its high percentage form it has the opposite effect: although it moisturises the skin, it also draws water from the lower layers of the skin: so while it moisturises externally, it dehydrates internally. But the water on the surface of the skin evaporates quickly. This is why it is important not to apply glycerine concentrate undiluted to the skin: the maximum percentage of glycerine should not exceed 10%. Otherwise, you will experience the exact opposite effect: dry, rough skin.

PANTHENOL 🔎

Panthenol is the provitamin, or precursor, of pantothenic acid, also known as vitamin B5.
It is a naturally derived substance found in plants and in the human body, colourless, almost odourless and viscous.

A well-established active ingredient in the cosmetics industry, it has been included in the ingredients list of various products for over 70 years for its many beneficial skin properties.

In addition to its moisturising properties, panthenol is able to create conditions similar to the skin's natural lipid structure, so it can actually replace the skin's protective layer and help restore the balance when damaged.
By promoting the proliferation of connective tissue cells in the skin, it supports the healing process of any surface injury, while stimulating exfoliation and having an anti-inflammatory effect.
