For 47 years, FEMA has helped people before, during and after disasters—coordinating disaster response when local and state resources are overwhelmed and protecting our Homeland under the Department of Homeland Security.

April 1 marks our 47th anniversary, but also 47 days of a lapse in funding for DHS. Our dedicated workforce hasn't been able to fully support Americans in need. Every day the shutdown continues is another day that we are unable to fulfill our mission and help disaster survivors across the nation.
