My newest article with MSN points out how gas station he**in is often sheathed in colorful, kid‑friendly packaging and placed alongside packaged foods, which makes them nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

When addictive products are designed to blend in, it’s no surprise they hook consumers.

This isn’t about personal choice—it’s more about an industry that exploits our brain’s reward systems.

Check out the link below for my take on gas station he**in.

Had an amazing few days in Hungary 🇭🇺 University of Gyor and my colleagues there made the trip! Highlights included a visit to a 1000 year old library, delish Hungarian food (including a lavender-lemon cake that I need to make at home), and so many sites and history. ❤️

“The conversation around GLP‑1 medications needs to shift.”

Instead of moralizing people’s choices, we should be focusing on what the science actually shows: GLP‑1s mimic a natural hormone that signals fullness and supports satiety.

Whenever individuals taking GLP-1s combine their efforts with adequate protein intake and resistance training, this medication can be an effective weight management tool in medical practice.

The 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans took a major step forward this cycle.

I was very happy to see our research on sugar addiction cited! Drawing on my research, and other existing literature on sugar addiction, the new Guidelines emphasize a “real food first” approach and call for significantly limiting added sugars in the diet to support metabolic health, reduce chronic disease risk, and curb the impact of ultra‑processed foods on the standard American diet.

It’s encouraging to see national policy acknowledge what the evidence has shown for years: excessive added sugar intake isn’t just a habit, it can drive powerful reward‑pathway responses that make moderate intake genuinely difficult.

Prioritizing whole foods and cutting back on both ultra‑processed products and added sugar isn’t about restriction—it’s a simple way to steady your energy and support better metabolic health long term.

Not all ‘healthy’ foods are what they seem! Even the foods that are labeled as organic, low-fat, or natural can still hide added sugar.

While some brands are becoming more health-aware, a lot of the bigger brands don’t worry as much about people’s health, and many products are actually sweeter than they were just a few years ago!

It is important to always read the nutrition label and pay close attention to the added sugar content—don’t let the buzzwords fool you!

Making healthier choices in 2026 is all about planning ahead, snacking smarter, and reading the nutrition label. I had the opportunity to speak on Daytime Tampa recently to share some of my tips on how to tackle your 2026 nutrition goals. Here is what I recommended.

Focusing on protein, fiber, and healthy fats in 2026 will help to keep us full and satisfied! I love nut/seed butter because they provide all of the protein and healthy fats without all the added sugar. I also have been enjoying whenever I need a more decadent treat (you can’t beat 17g of fiber)!

For some of us, snacking after work can be a struggle, which is why I love Crispy Fruit options because they provide the crunch that we crave without the crash!

The beverages we choose to consume can hide a lot of added sugars and calories, which is why reading the nutrition label is so important. One of my favorite beverages that contains simple ingredients and no added sugar is the plant milks from !

Unfortunately, even in the new year, we can’t escape cold and flu season, so supporting your immune system with nutritious foods, exercise, and getting outside as much as possible can make all the difference. For that extra immunity boost, I love using colloidal silver!

In 2026, many of us are aiming to make more nutritious, feel-good food choices—and simple snacks are a great place to start.

These homemade flaxseed crackers with creamy olive hummus are packed with fiber, healthy fats, and plant-based protein, making them a smart and satisfying addition to your 2026 snack rotation!
