Save this for your support and mindfulness toolbox. 🧘‍♀️ Here's your reminder that the holiday season might not be happy, joyful and fun for everyone. It's often the most stressful time of the year and when grief hits hardest for a lot of people. You don't have to fix it, just provide your presence to hold space and breathe.

I've lived with chronic pain for 5 years now. One of the most helpful things to cope with ever changing symtpoms and functionality has been to do just this. ☝️

Be mindful in each moment. Little things really are the biggest and best things this life has to offer. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go do a little dance while drinking my favorite cup of coffee. ☕

When I was in Bali, I had the honor of seeing not one, but four Balinese healers. One worked with energy, one with nerves, one with the stomach and one on a more spiritual and intuitive level. All of them told me I need to learn how to RELAX, which is ironic given what I do for a living as a yoga teacher.

Living with chronic pain means that relaxing is often extremely uncomfortable. When I allow myself to fully relax, I realize how much pain I'm actually in most of the time, so my coping mechanism (not a healthy one) has been to constantly keep pushing through and doing all the things.

Since returning back from Bali, I'm recognizing this pattern more and more, and when I feel myself wanting to keep doing to avoid my pain, I hear the healers telling me to relax. When we allow ourselves to actively feel what it is we're going through, whether mentally, emotionally or physically, we allow the pain and discomfort to move through us quicker than if we avoid it and stuff it down.

So, what will you do today to RELAX? Take a few deep breaths, move into a child's pose, meditate, mindfully drink your coffee? Let me know!

This workshop is geared towards ALL LEVELS. Learn how to practice flows safely, building strength and stability in the body so you can modify your practice for where you're at and where you want to get to.

Join me for my first Flow Fundamentals workshop at ALIVE yoga & fitness Humber Bay on Sunday, November 17 from 2:00 - 3:30!

In this workshop I'll be breaking down key poses in a Flow class like downward facing dog, plank, cobra, chaturanga and upward facing dog. All too often we flow on momentum instead of with strength and stability, which take time and awareness to build. We'll practice upper body strength building as building blocks to these key poses and you'll leave with tangible takeaways on how to modify and/or take your Flow practice to the next level!

This workshop will be accessible for all levels - whether you're new to yoga and feel lost in a flow class, have injuries that restrict you and need modifications or you're a seasoned practitioner - there's something for everyone! See you on your mat!
