🎶 Celebrating 80 Years of Keel Pipe Band 🎶

This year marks a very special milestone for Keel Pipe Band as they celebrate their 80th anniversary. Since 1946, the band has been at the heart of Achill’s traditions, bringing the powerful sound of the pipes and drums to St. Patrick’s Day and community celebrations across the island.

For many in the Achill diaspora around the world, the sound of the pipes carries memories of home. For visitors to the island, following the pipe bands through Achill’s villages on St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most authentic and unforgettable Irish experiences along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Congratulations to all past and present members who have kept this wonderful tradition alive for 80 years.

🎶 Celebrating 60 Years of Music! 🎶

A huge congratulations to Dooagh National School as they celebrate 60 wonderful years of their school band! What an incredible milestone.

We are so lucky to have such a talented group of young musicians who regularly visit us and bring so much joy and energy to our users. Their music, enthusiasm and smiles always brighten the day and mean so much to everyone here.

Wishing the band, the students, teachers and the whole school community continued success for many more years of music and memories. 🎺🥁🎵

St Patrick’s Day 2026 marks the 60th Anniversary of the School Band since it was founded by Mary & John McNamara in 1966. A huge thank you to the wonderful children of Dooagh N.S. who put on a fantastic concert for everyone at St. Colman’s today.

The music, singing and smiles brought so much joy to our service users and staff alike. It was truly heart-warming to see such talent, confidence and kindness from the next generation.

We are so grateful to the pupils, teachers and everyone involved for taking the time to make our day so special. We are already looking forward to your next visit 💙🎶

Thank you to the Achill Experience for their generous donation once again this year. Your continued support means so much to us. We are truly grateful to the entire community for always standing with us — your kindness helps keep our service thriving.

Santa and his elves worked their magic once more at Achill Experience on Sunday – it was a wonderful day and we were thrilled with how it went.

We were also delighted to have raised a brilliant €1,447 through ticket sales alongside the Christmas Raffle, winners for which were drawn that evening.

The money raised goes towards the wonderful work at St Colman’s Care Centre right here in Achill. Congratulations to everyone who won, and thank you to each of you who bought tickets and especially to every person who donated any of the prizes.

What a fantastic day we had yesterday!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us — we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and that your feet have recovered from all the dancing!

We are extremely grateful to Cathal, Eileen, Una and all their staff. They never let us down and always give us 110%.

A special thank you to the TY students and their teacher for the wonderful help throughout the day. It’s great to see the next generation getting involved their support will be so important in keeping our service running into the future.

Our thanks also to the priests and the children from Achill Sound NS, who began the day so beautifully with a lovely Mass.

And finally, to all our staff and volunteers — there would be no St Colman’s without you. We are truly grateful for everything you do.

Thank you all for making the day so special.
