Nightingale Nursing Home Nightingale Nursing Home. Providing Excellence in Care for the Older Person. We have an excellent team of experienced, qualified nurses and carers.

Nightingale is fortunate to have a dedicated team led by our Person in Charge/Clinical and Operational Director Patricia MacGabhann. Responsibility for the operation of the nursing home and the care, safety and well-being of the residents falls to the Person in Charge. In her absence the responsibility is ably met by a committed team of registered nursing staff. Alongside our nursing care our residents also avail of GP, chiropody, dietetic, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and other ancillary services as required. We have a dedicated activities co-ordinator who, being a longstanding employee knows the residents very well and can tailor activities to suit their interests and preferences.

Santa comes to town early! Santa visited Nightingale on the 16th to deliver gifts to our residents. Huge thanks to Santa who never forgets us. Special thanks also to the staff who attended and helped to make the occasion a very special one for everyone. There was much merriment. Particular thanks to the staff who turned the evening into a double celebration, marking the 20th anniversary of Nightingale. Here's to 20 more!!

Nightingale is sad to say that we lost two of our beloved residents this week. One was our elder statesman at the age of 104 years and the other a lovely lady who had been his neighbour before coming to live here in Nightingale. We had the privilege of caring for both of them for 6 years and greatly miss their presence in the home. Our sympathies and best wishes go out to their families, friends and neighbours. Rest in Peace Phil and Frank.

Believe it or not Nightingale is 20 years old this year and continues to provide excellent care to our residents, just the same as when the doors opened 20 years ago. We're not sure about whether to have an anniversary celebration but if you have any good suggestions please let us know. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the dedicated staff who stayed the course with us (you know who you are). Thanks also to the members of our multidisciplinary team who support us by providing thier skills and knowledge. Happy Birthday to us!

Nightingale's Christmas party on the 11th of December was a resounding success as always. Santa put in his usual jolly appearance and dished out the pressies left, right and centre to the delight of the residents. Musical entertainment was provided by Shane Moore and that went down a treat too. As if that wasn't enough goodies and tipples were aplenty! As always thanks must go the the staff who gave of their time and skill to add to the festivities either by simply being part of the fun or by contributing baked goods from their kitchens and hearts! Mostly though thanks must go to Maureen Healy for making it all possible every year.
