Physical Therapy is a form of healthcare for dealing with Musculoskeletal injuries. Your Physical Therapist identifies the cause of your pain or dysfunction through a combination of medical history taking, functional assessment and orthopedic testing. Treatment tends to be very 'hands-on', and uses a combination of techniques such as massage with movement, myofascial release, joint mobilisations, muscle energy techniques, trigger point release, stretching, strengthening and core stability. Each patient is given a home care rehab programme that is designed to improve their condition. Physical Therapy is covered my insurance providers such as VHI, Quinn Insurance, Vivas Health and Garda Medical Aid. Claims can also be made under the MED1 from for tax relief on treatments. Each IAPT Physical Therapist has completed a 3 year course that meets specific educational and professional requirements. They also have a current Occupational First Aid certificate and and carry out regular Continuing Professional Development courses to ensure they are always learning and improving their skills. They are also covered by Professional Practitioner Insurance
