8 years ago today our beautiful Sabrina peacefully went to heaven. Throughout Sabrina’s cancer diagnosis and treatment her main goal was to help others by creating awareness for lung cancer. She discovered various ways of easing the trauma of cancer therapies.
Sabrina's positivity and strength gave us the inspiration to set up The Sabrina Ryan Foundation and in doing so we were able to provide help throughout the island of Ireland for those people going through treatment for cancer by financially assisting them through the emotional and lifestyle effects of cancer treatment.
From setting up the charity in 2016, we managed to help so many people throughout Ireland by helping with the cost of a wig, helping to create magical memories for families through respite weekends away, eyebrow tattooing and many more things that helped to put a smile on that persons face whilst going through such an incredibly hard time in their lives.
It is with a heavy heart we have decided as a committee to bring closure to our charity foundation, it had become increasingly hard post pandemic to keep it running.
We are so unbelievably grateful for the support we have received throughout the past few years, to all the people who fundraised for us and for every penny that was donated. We are so proud of everything we have achieved by the charity foundation . We will continue to fundraise for other charity's in Sabrina's memory.
Donna would like to personally thank our amazing committee, without their time and effort none of the work throughout the past few years would have been possible.
All fundraising money resting in the charity's bank accounts, we as a committee decided to allocate it to charity's that meant alot to Sabrina and ones of which we know she would be supportive of.
One of Sabrina's dreams was to one day become a mother, for that reason we chose some amazing children cancer charities throughout Ireland. One of which means alot to us as its in memory of a beautiful little boy called Connall, who is best friends with Sabrina's nephew Daniel. Connall was just 5yrs old when he sadly passed away from a rare form of cancer. We hope the money donated to these charities will help families in a small way going through this heart breaking time.
Another charity was the Irish Cancer Society, of which Sabrina was a Spokesperson. She went on many Tv and Radio shows to speak about living with lung cancer in the hope to help others.
Cancer Research NI, The Southern Area Hospice and Charis Cancer Care all of whom do unbelievable work for people in N.Ireland.
The Gary Kelly Foundation based in Drogheda, which is a support centre for people living with cancer, their families and those caring for them.
