A very positive development for people living with Parkinson’s disease in County Mayo.

Parkinson’s Ireland has announced the appointment of Laura Niepage as the new Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist, the first community-based Parkinson’s nurse specialist role in Mayo. The service will operate from Ballina Primary Care Centre and will support people living with Parkinson’s across the county.

This important service will provide additional support between consultant appointments, helping patients and their families manage the condition more effectively while accessing specialist care closer to home.

Parkinson’s disease affects thousands of people across Ireland, and access to dedicated specialist support can make a meaningful difference to those living with the condition.

The service is free of charge and available by appointment.

The Mayo team showing their support for The Alzheimer Society of Ireland's Denim Day for Dementia 💙

Today, staff came together in denim to help raise awareness and show solidarity for those living with dementia, as well as their families and carers.

Small actions like this help spark important conversations and remind us of the compassion and support that people living with dementia deserve every day.
