Special Education is facing significant difficulty in Mayo.

Schools still do not know their allocation for September, leaving them unable to plan for the year ahead.

The National Council for Special Education (NCSE) is promising Special Education school places to families that do not exist on the ground, creating confusion and disappointment for parents.

School principals cannot plan. Families cannot plan.

I will continue to fight for the families affected.

We are lucky to live in the best county in the world!

A wonderful trek along Bertra Strand - with Croagh Patrick on one side and the Atlantic, Achill Island & Clare Island on the other.

Michael Lennon and many others across the community are doing fantastic work developing equine tourism in the region. I look forward to working together in the years ahead to support rural enterprise and outdoor recreation.

The west coast has limitless potential.

Irish flags, foreign food

Mislabeling is an abuse of Irish consumers and Irish producers.

The committee found:

• Weak compliance checks

• No real penalties for mislabeling

• Recalled Brazilian beef (linked to carcinogenic growth hormones) consumed in Ireland — FSAI unable or unwilling to provide details

• Processors “probably” importing meat
• No clear accountability

Busy families don’t have time to decode labels. When “Irish” is printed boldly on the front, people trust it.

It shouldn’t take detective work to know where your food comes from.

Clear honest labels = informed consumer choices & fairness for Irish producers.

And clear honest labelling must be backed-up by strong monitoring, compliance checks and real penalties to ensure the system works.

I will continue to work on this until confidence and trust is restored in the food system.

A lovely morning with Darren Forde and the Hollymount First Responders getting the blood pressure checked.

Thank you to Darren and everyone involved. A really important service - and a great reminder to all of us to keep an eye on our health.

• Broccoli labelled “Irish” – out of season.
• “Irish Herbs” grown in Kenya & Spain.
• “Irish Tomatoes” from Spain.

• These are just some of the issues I raised at today’s Committee with Bord Bia, the Department of Agriculture and the Food Safety Authority.

• I was disappointed that senior officials could not clearly explain how this is happening, what checks are in place, or what penalties apply. Instead, promises to “look into it.” These concerns have not been properly addressed.

• I will include link to full committee in the comments for those interested.

• Credit to Mick Kelly Grows for his research and bringing this into public domain.

A Candian company is proposing harvest 40,000 tonnes of seaweed on the coast of Mayo & Galway.

The company behind the proposal is Acadian Seaplants, a large Canadian corporation.

Seaweed is crucial for protecting the coastline from erosion and maintaining natural coastal defences.

Seaweed is an essential resource for local coastal communities.

I’ve submitted Parliamentary Questions to the Minister urging him to oppose these plans.

An Post pensioners are being denied their pension increases in a cost of living crisis by well paid Ministers.

I was proud to stand with retired An Post members from Mayo today outside Leinster House.

Their pension adjustment was approved over a year ago. And yet they are still waiting. The delay is unacceptable and unnecessary.

I have written to the Minister again demanding implementation of the pension adjustments for An Post, Eir, and CIÉ pensioners.

Larry Murrin is the chair of Bord Bia. His job is to promote Irish food.

Bord Bia oversees some of the highest farms standards in the world.

Meanwhile, it's chairs is responsible for the importation of Brazilian beef that would never satisfy Bord Bia Quality Assurance.

We need to a full independent investigation into food labelling in this country.

Hard working farmers deserve better.

Thank you to everyone who contacted me regarding Horse Sport Ireland and the recent Oireachtas Committee meeting.

I raised a number of the concerns shared with me, particularly around rising costs - including levies, passport and ownership fees, and governance issues.

While these matters were discussed at committee not all issues were fully explored and this is work I will continue to work on.

Concerns remain around the overall cost burden on owners, breeders, and riders, as well as the level of legal and litigation costs within the organisation. Horse Sport Ireland outlined to the committee that certain legal costs relate to legacy issues.

I would encourage anyone with an interest to watch the full committee meeting (link in the comments).

I will continue to work towards greater transparency and accountability.
