Love was in the air last week at College View Nursing Home as our residents got creative during arts & crafts, making beautiful Valentine’s cards and decorations 💕

Everyone had great fun preparing for Valentine’s Day 2026, putting lots of care, colour and creativity into each handmade card ❤️✂️

Happy St. Valentine's Day 💖

💖💖Love was in the air all week here in College View Nursing Home - between making Valentine's Decorations in our Arts & Crafts Activity to having a great 'Hoolie' to celebrate St. Valentine.

👏Thank you as always to the wonderful Dessie Ronan for the entertainment - he had feet tapping, hands clapping, singing along and many took to the floor for a dance

🧁👏Thank you to our talented kitchen staff who provided the Valentines fair with beautiful sweet treats and heart shaped biscuits❤.

💕👏Thank to our amazing Activities Coordinators, Fiona and Ashley, for organising the party and all the activities: And for guiding our Residents in making the very impressive St. Valentine's Day decorations.

A Lovely Afternoon Out at the ‘Forget Me Not’ Café

Our residents, along with Fiona, our Activities Coordinator, enjoyed a wonderful outing to the "Forget Me Not Café" during the week — and they had a great time as always

A huge thank you to the Cavan Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society for the kind invitation and for hosting such a beautiful afternoon filled with great music, lovely fare, and fantastic company. Moments like these mean so much to everyone involved, with lovely new memories are made💙

St. Brigid’s Day at College View Nursing Home 🌿

Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon making St. Brigid’s crosses, while our Activities Coordinator, Fiona, shared the history and story of St. Brigid with everyone.

It was a meaningful and relaxing activity, filled with tradition, creativity, and shared memories as we celebrated this important part of Irish heritage 🇮🇪

We said farewell to January in the best possible way — with a "hoolie" great music and singing, a bit of a dance, lots of laughter and fun and a full house of our Residents & Staff here at College View Nursing Home 💚

On Tuesday, January 27th, our residents enjoyed a fantastic music session with the Rownan Family — father, son, and two daughters — who were joined by Dara for an afternoon of toe-tapping tunes and great fun.

The excitement was extra special as Dara is the son of one of our Healthcare Assistants here at College View. Our residents were delighted to see a familiar family connection take to the stage, and the room was buzzing from start to finish. With a packed audience and plenty of smiles, it was a truly uplifting afternoon 😊

💛 Linda Kelly, College View Nursing Home awarded for Long Service💛
On Friday, January 23rd the Management Team at Healthcare Ireland - of which our home is one of the group., celebrated colleagues who have dedicated many years of service to caring for residents across their 10 nursing homes in Ireland.
At the Christmas and Awards Evening in the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport, Chief Executive Officer, Rioghnach Murphy, and Chief Financial Officer, John Bishop, joined colleagues to honour staff whose commitment, loyalty, and professionalism have made a lasting impact on Grace Healthcare.

💛 Celebrating Outstanding Care at Grace Healthcare Ireland - College View Nursing Home is one of their Homes 💛

On Friday, 23 January, the Grace Healthcare Ireland Management Team hosted a special event celebrating the incredible staff across their 10 nursing homes in Ireland, with 145 colleagues in attendance.

During the evening, Chief Executive Officer, Rioghnach Murphy, presented the Heart Awards, recognising staff who were nominated by their colleagues for providing exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism.

🍌🧁 A Weekend of Baking, Memories & Laughter at College View Nursing Home

Over the weekend, our residents enjoyed a wonderful baking session, with the ladies — and some of the men — whipping up delicious banana muffins with chocolate drizzle and chocolate chip banana bread 😋🍫

🗣️ Before the baking even began, there was plenty of chat as everyone discussed the recipes, sorted the ingredients, and of course made sure there was lots of hand-washing before getting started 🧼

💬 As the mixing began, the room filled with laughter and lovely memories, with residents reminiscing about baking themselves and helping their mammys in the kitchen when they were younger 💕

🔥 Thanks to our portable oven, which we can bring to each unit, residents enjoyed the full baking experience — not just mixing the ingredients, but watching and smelling the baked goods as they cooked, making it a truly sensory and meaningful activity 👃

A special weekend filled with connection, comfort, and the sweet smell of home 🏡💙
