Cranky Coach Running Group Churchtown 10 Mile Race Report
The big race this weekend was the Churchtown 10 Mile took place today in North Cork, and with the route being changed only yesterday due to the severe weather, runners were met with a far tougher test than expected. The revised course featured two challenging 5-mile laps packed with some brutally steep climbs a real test of strength and grit.
Despite that, our Cranky Coach guys absolutely delivered.
Karen McKeown – 59:45, 13th Overall & 1st M50
A superb run from Kieran 😜who powered through the hills to finish 13th overall and claim the first over-50 title in an excellent time of 59:45. A brilliant performance on a course that punished every athlete.
Zena Mullane – 67:00, 5th Woman Overall
Zena continues her incredible upward trajectory. On a day when times were slowed across the board, she still stormed to 4th woman overall in 67 minutes. Another big step forward for Zena she’s genuinely improving every single race.
Cathal Kelleher – 70:00, 70-Second PB
Possibly the only athlete on the day to run a PB on this monster of a route! Kyle smashed 70 seconds off his previous best, clocking an impressive 70 minutes. A huge achievement given the conditions and terrain.
Liam Daly – 1:22
Another strong showing from Liam, who battled the relentless hills to come home in 1:22. Excellent running and great consistency from Liam as he keeps building.
Jim O’Byrne – Pacing Duty
A big shout-out to Jim O’Byrne, who took on the tough job of pacing never easy on a hilly two-lap route like this. He executed it brilliantly and helped others around him stay steady and confident.
A brilliant day out for the Cranky Coach team
Tough course, brutal climbs, last-minute route changes — but every one of our athletes rose to the challenge.
Well done to all who raced, supported, and paced.
A fantastic event and another strong showing for the Cranky Coach Running Group .
